You’re about 20 minutes from Bekal Fort (which you absolutely should visit at sunset), but far enough from the tourist crowds that you can hear the waves instead of honking rickshaws.

The thing that struck me first was how they’ve managed to keep that traditional Kerala architecture without making it feel like a theme park, you know? The wooden elements and sloped roofs work with the landscape instead of fighting it. I mean, it’s definitely a 5-star property – the spa treatments are genuinely excellent, and the infinity pool situation is pretty spectacular – but it doesn’t feel stuffy or overly formal. The staff actually remembers your name after the first day, which sounds small but makes a huge difference. What I really appreciated was the food situation. They do proper Kerala cuisine (the fish curry is legitimately good), but they also understand that sometimes you just want decent pasta after a long day of sightseeing. The breakfast spread is extensive without being overwhelming – though honestly, stick with the local dishes because that’s where they really shine.

Location-wise, you’re getting genuine oceanfront here, not just “ocean view if you crane your neck from the balcony.” The beach is surprisingly clean and not overcrowded, partly because it’s not on the main backpacker trail. If you’re into exploring, Nileshwar town is close enough for a quick trip to see actual local life, and the drive up to Kasaragod is pretty scenic if you rent a scooter. The resort itself has that laid-back vibe where you can actually relax – the pool area doesn’t turn into a party zone, and there are enough quiet corners that you can find your own space. I’d say the 8.1 rating is about right; it’s really well-run and the location is fantastic, though the rooms could use slightly better soundproofing between units. But honestly? When you’re falling asleep to the sound of waves and waking up to that view over the Arabian Sea, a little hallway noise doesn’t seem like such a big deal.
