The place sits out in Sadhora village on the Mashobra-Naldehra road, which means you’re actually getting away from the main Shimla crowds (trust me, that’s a good thing during peak season). It’s about a 20-minute drive from the Mall Road chaos, but honestly? That distance is exactly what makes this place work.
The hotel itself has that solid five-star infrastructure you’d want – decent rooms, reliable hot water (which, you know what, isn’t always a given in hill stations), and the kind of service that doesn’t make you feel like you’re bothering anyone when you ask for extra towels. What really got me though was stepping out onto the property and realizing you’re surrounded by actual forest. I mean, not just a few decorative trees, but proper Himalayan cedar and oak that goes on for miles. The morning walks here are genuinely spectacular – you can take the trail that leads toward Naldehra and it’s basically just you, some langur monkeys, and views that stretch all the way to the Pir Panjal range on clear days.
The food situation is pretty solid too, though I’d recommend trying the local Himachali dishes over the standard North Indian stuff they serve. Their restaurant does this thing with local trout that’s actually worth ordering, and the kitchen staff seemed genuinely excited when I asked about regional specialties. Parking’s never an issue (which anyone who’s dealt with Shimla’s main area will appreciate), and the rooms stay surprisingly quiet even when the place is full. The 7.2 rating makes sense to me – it’s not going to blow your mind with luxury, but everything works properly and the location is genuinely special. If you’re the type who’d rather wake up to bird sounds and mountain air instead of honking cars and crowds of tourists, this is probably your spot. Plus, you’re still close enough to pop into Shimla proper when you want to hit the markets or grab a coffee on the Ridge – best of both worlds, really.
