Moness Resort Overview
You know what struck me first about Moness Resort? It’s actually tucked right into Aberfeldy in this spot where you get the best of both worlds – you’re technically in town but it feels like you’re staying in the Scottish countryside. The place sits on Crieff Road, which honestly sounds busier than it is, and there’s plenty of parking (always a relief when you’re hauling luggage around the Highlands).
The resort itself has this sort of understated Highland elegance going on – I mean, it’s a proper 4-star place but without any of that stuffy formality you sometimes get. The rooms are actually spacious, which surprised me since a lot of Scottish hotels can be a bit… cozy, shall we say. What really got me was stepping out onto the grounds – they’ve got this gorgeous stretch that runs right down to the River Tay, and honestly, sitting there with a coffee in the morning watching the water flow by is worth the stay alone. The spa facility is genuinely impressive too, though I’d recommend booking treatments early if you’re visiting during festival season (Aberfeldy gets surprisingly busy in summer).
Here’s the thing about this place – it works whether you’re using it as a base for exploring or just want to decompress for a few days. Aberfeldy itself is one of those Scottish towns that feels authentic without being touristy, and you’re perfectly positioned for day trips to Pitlochry or even pushing up toward the Cairngorms if you’re feeling adventurous. The hotel restaurant is solid – nothing groundbreaking, but they do a proper Scottish breakfast and the dinner menu leans into local ingredients without being precious about it. Staff actually seem to enjoy working there, which always makes a difference, and they’re genuinely helpful with local recommendations rather than just pointing you toward the obvious tourist spots. The 8.3 rating feels about right – it’s the kind of place that does everything well without necessarily being the most memorable hotel you’ll ever stay in, but sometimes that’s exactly what you want.
Guest Reviews
Beautiful location surrounded by Scottish highlands anniversary stay so the staff made it a special stay for my wife and I lovely touch
The hot tub was great, the lodge size and lay out were ideal for our party.
Great location
The location
The hot tub was amazing and the price was very reasonable. The location is also perfect
Lovely spacious lodge with sufficient amenities. We had a teenager with us who is attached to his x box so we should have brought an extra tv with us for evening time. The staff at the restaurant were exceptional and were so accommodating despite us...
Staff are amazing and so helpful and nice. Breakfast and Dinner delicious both days. Enjoyed the use of the leisure facilities and feeding the ducks was an added extra.
Location is fantastic. Guest service was excellent . We stayed in a room that was quaint however the furniture and decor could do with a bit of an investment. Beautiful bathroom, beautiful grounds. Dinner service was slow , and a bit pricey.
Deluxe room was well worth the money quite spacious with a warm and spacious bathroom , breakfast was good quality and nicely presented , the staff were helpful and pleasant
Food was fantastic, staff very friendly. Leisurely facilities clean.
