Ohakune TOP 10 Holiday Park Overview
You know what caught me off guard about Ohakune TOP 10 Holiday Park? I was expecting your typical motor camp setup – you know, cramped sites and questionable facilities – but this place actually gets it right. When you pull up on Moore Street (which is literally a two-minute walk from the main drag where all the carrot cafes are), there’s this surprisingly well-organized feel to everything. The reception area feels more like a proper hotel than a holiday park, and honestly, the whole place has this clean, updated vibe that puts most motels to shame.
The location is pretty much perfect if you’re here for Turoa – I mean, you’re close enough to grab proper coffee and breakfast in town before hitting the mountain, but far enough back that you’re not dealing with the weekend warrior chaos on Clyde Street. What really impressed me was how they’ve managed to cater to different types of travelers without it feeling scattered. The cabin I stayed in was actually modern (not that fake-wood paneling you get at some places), with decent heating – which matters more than you’d think when those Ruapehu winds start howling. The shared kitchen facilities are probably the best I’ve seen at a holiday park; clean, well-equipped, and big enough that you’re not bumping elbows with other families trying to cook dinner.
Here’s the thing though – this place really shines during ski season and those busy summer tramping months, but it never felt overcrowded when I was there in late autumn. The playground area is solid if you’ve got kids, and there’s actually decent space between sites so you’re not listening to your neighbor’s conversations all night. Parking is straightforward (no weird maneuvering required), and the staff seem to actually know the area well – they pointed me toward some lesser-known walks around the Mangawhero River that I never would’ve found otherwise. The only minor gripe? The wifi can be a bit patchy in some of the cabins, but honestly, that’s pretty standard for this part of the world. If you’re tossing up between this and some of the pricier options in town, I’d go with Ohakune TOP 10 – it’s got that sweet spot of being comfortable without the tourist-trap pricing, and you’ll actually want to hang around the property instead of just using it as a place to crash.

Clean and friendly
What could be improved: Nothing
Location of unit 12 near the lovely stream
Loved the location of the unit, close to a stream and lots of trees. The staff were very helpful and the facilities clean and well maintained.
The river running in the background and the native bush.
Bush walk by stream
What could be improved: I think they charged to use the hot tub, I think that should have been complimentary.
Perfectly located to walk into Ohakune. Spacious for 2 people. A well equipped kitchen. Lovely tiled bathroom with huge shower - seems to have been recently done up. Very clean throughout. Great to have parking right outside. What could be improved:...

What could be improved: Couldnt find a fault
In the city still surrounded by nature. Great location for holidays
I love the fact the cabin we stayed in had two sets of bunk beds. It makes fitting a young family of 5 really easy!
