Okinawa Prince Hotel Ocean View Ginowan Overview
You know what caught me off guard about the Okinawa Prince Hotel Ocean View Ginowan? The name actually undersells it. I mean, yeah, it’s got ocean views – but when you’re standing on one of those higher floors looking out over the East China Sea, it’s more like having a front-row seat to this endless blue canvas that shifts from turquoise to deep navy depending on the time of day.
The location in Mashiki is honestly perfect if you want to feel like you’re experiencing real Okinawa without being stuck in touristy Naha. You’re maybe fifteen minutes from the airport (which is clutch when you’re dragging luggage), but far enough that you don’t hear planes constantly. What I really loved is how you can walk down to the Ginowan Marina area – there’s this whole stretch where locals fish in the evenings, and you’ll see families having little beach picnics. The hotel sits right where you can access both the busier Chatan area if you want nightlife and shopping, or head toward the quieter Urasoe side when you need to decompress.
The rooms are spacious in that distinctly Japanese way where everything has its place and makes sense. The ocean-facing ones are worth the upgrade – I’d wake up early just to watch the sunrise paint everything gold. Actually, the staff mentioned that typhoon season (June through October) can make for dramatic morning views if you’re into that sort of thing, though obviously check weather before booking then. The onsen facilities are smaller than what you’d find at a mainland resort, but honestly, soaking in those hot baths after a day exploring the island hits different when you can hear waves in the background.
What really sold me on this place was the attention to Okinawan culture without it feeling forced or theme-park-ish. The restaurant serves proper Okinawan specialties – like, actual goya champuru that tastes like what you’d get at a local family spot, not the watered-down version hotels usually serve. The breakfast spread includes purple sweet potato everything, which sounds weird but trust me on this one. And the concierge staff actually knows the island – they steered me toward this incredible taco rice place in nearby Chatan (apparently it’s an Okinawan invention, who knew?) and suggested timing my visit to Shuri Castle for late afternoon when the crowds thin out.
The pool area gets busy during Japanese holidays, but most other times you’ll have space to breathe. There’s something really peaceful about swimming laps while looking out at the ocean – it’s like the horizon just goes on forever. Check-in was smooth, parking is free (huge plus since rental cars are basically necessary here), and the Wi-Fi actually works well throughout the building. Honestly, the 9.2 rating makes sense – it’s not trying to be flashy or over-the-top luxury, it’s just a really solid, well-run hotel that gets Okinawa right. If you’re planning to explore the island but want a comfortable home base that feels connected to the place rather than isolated from it, this is your spot.

Guest Reviews
Hotel is brand new with nice facilities, very friendly staff and near a beach. Both indoor and outdoor pools were good with variety of saunas. The communal bath was also exceptional, although a bit small. There is a supermarket nearby with some...
Don't miss the onsen! Also, there are so many izakayas you can walk to. Plus a shopping mall with everything you could need!
What could be improved: I do wish there had been an iron or microwave in the room (or at least on every floor).
Bell staff very alert and prompt to attend upon our arrival at the door, always greet guest and looks welcoming. Staff stationed at the new year drink that serve awamori, friendly and explain about awamori drink for new year. Sliding door is spoilt...
Good location, clean and tidy, breakfast is good
What could be improved: We have to check out at 7am to catch our flight, though we had paid the breakfast, we could not get a packed breakfast which we had had in other hotel.
Hotel was good, clean, very comfortable, and our room has a great view of the marina. What could be improved: Communication was a slight problem, as a number of staff were unable to speak much English. However, they more than made up for it by being...
I absolutely loved the lounge bars! The cocktails were fantastic, and the food was just as amazing. I really appreciated how, even though everything was unlimited, they never compromised on quality. The infinity pool was stunning in the evening, and...
What could be improved: They don’t provide us the receipt
New and good hotel What could be improved: Breakfast is not good enough, and too many people together will cause a very crowded condition. The location is ok, but a little bit far away from many tourist attractions, and the public transportation is...
Staff was extremely friendly (and spoke English!!), lounge provided everything you need (except lunch could be more then sandwich slices), Spa area was extremely nice esp sauna and Onsen Room was very spacious, with separate toilette + shower, very...
The hotel room had a good size and it was in a great location. There was a grocery store practically across the street.
What could be improved: Breakfast buffet could have been better but it was still good.
