The four-star resort has this old-world elegance that feels authentic rather than manufactured, probably because it actually dates back to 1796. There’s free parking right on site, which might sound trivial until you’ve dealt with valet fees at other resorts.

The golf course is about two miles away, which is close enough if you’re serious about your game but far enough that you don’t have golf carts buzzing around the main property all day. The restaurant serves what I’d call elevated comfort food — nothing too fancy, but everything’s done well with local ingredients when possible.
