The tennis courts are well-maintained (though book early if you’re visiting during peak season), and the fitness center has that rare combination of good equipment and natural light. The golf course within two miles is La Costa’s championship course — it’s the real deal if you’re serious about your game. Parking is handled smoothly with their private lot system, which eliminates that annoying valet shuffle you get at some resorts.

It’s a well-run resort that happens to be in one of Southern California’s most pleasant coastal communities, about thirty minutes north of downtown San Diego but worlds away from the crowds.
