HOTEL OVERVIEW
I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to the Omni Orlando Resort at ChampionsGate, I wasn’t expecting much. It’s technically in Kissimmee, which let’s face it, isn’t exactly the glamorous part of the Orlando area. But you know what? This place completely changed my mind about staying outside the Disney bubble.
The resort sits on Masters Boulevard (yes, golf-themed naming everywhere), and it’s actually got this really impressive scale to it. I mean, we’re talking about a proper resort here, not some roadside hotel pretending to be fancy. The lobby has these soaring ceilings and feels genuinely upscale without being stuffy about it. What really struck me was how quiet it gets once you’re inside – you’d never guess you’re just 15 minutes from all the Disney chaos. The staff at check-in actually seemed like they wanted to be there, which honestly is rarer than it should be in this area. They gave us the real scoop on traffic timing (avoid I-4 between 4-7 PM, take the back roads through Celebration if you’re Disney-bound) and restaurant reservations.
Here’s what I didn’t expect – the golf situation is legitimately impressive. Two championship courses that aren’t just resort afterthoughts, but courses people actually travel here specifically to play. Even if you’re not into golf, the views are pretty spectacular, especially from the higher floors. The pools are where this place really shines though. There’s the main lagoon-style pool that my kids couldn’t be dragged away from, plus a quieter adult area that actually stays adult-only (miracle). The lazy river isn’t massive, but it does the job, and there’s enough space that it doesn’t feel like you’re floating in a crowded bathtub.
The rooms themselves are solid – nothing groundbreaking, but the beds are actually comfortable and the bathrooms have decent water pressure. Pro tip: request a golf course view if you can. The parking lot views aren’t terrible, but why settle? One thing that surprised me was how well soundproofed everything is. Despite being a big resort with lots of families, we barely heard our neighbors. The restaurant situation is better than expected too – Zen Sai for Asian food is genuinely good (not just resort-good), and David’s Club Bar & Grill does a decent job with American classics. Skip the grab-and-go coffee though and drive two minutes to the Wawa on 192 – trust me on this one.
What really sets this place apart is the location sweet spot it occupies. You’re close enough to Disney that you’re not spending your vacation in traffic, but far enough away that you’re not paying Disney-adjacent hotel prices for everything. Universal is totally doable for a day trip, and if you want to venture beyond the theme parks, you’re actually positioned pretty well for exploring real Florida – Bok Tower Gardens is about 45 minutes away and worth the drive. The resort runs shuttles to Disney, which is convenient, but honestly, having a car gives you so much more flexibility. This isn’t a place where you’ll feel trapped on property, which I really appreciated after a few too many all-inclusive experiences where leaving felt like a major expedition.

The hotel is immaculate and has great amenities. My toddler loved the kiddie slides and the lazy river. You can order lunch right from your lounge chair and they bring it to you, which was really convenient. We also loved the restaurants on property and thought the food was top quality.
