Oriental Hotel Okinawa Resort & Spa Overview
So I’ve been to a lot of resorts in Okinawa – honestly, it’s kind of my thing – but the Oriental Hotel on the Kise Peninsula really caught me off guard. You know how most five-star places feel sort of… sterile? This one doesn’t. Maybe it’s because it sits right on this gorgeous stretch of beach in Nago where the water actually looks like those impossibly blue postcards, or maybe it’s just that the staff genuinely seems happy to be there (which, let’s be real, isn’t always the case at fancy hotels).
The location is pretty brilliant, actually. You’re tucked away from the main tourist chaos of central Okinawa, but you’re not stuck in the middle of nowhere either. It’s about a 20-minute drive from Nago’s main drag where all the good local restaurants are – and trust me, you’ll want to venture out at least once because while the hotel food is solid, there’s this incredible taco rice place called Charlie’s that locals swear by. The resort itself sprawls along this protected cove, so the water stays calm even when it’s choppy elsewhere. I watched kids playing in the shallows while their parents actually relaxed (you know how rare that is). The spa is where things get interesting though – they do this traditional Okinawan massage technique that incorporates local sea salt, and I’m not usually one for spa treatments, but honestly? It was incredible. The whole place has this subtle ryokan influence mixed with modern resort amenities, which sounds like it shouldn’t work but absolutely does.
What really sold me was the small stuff, though. The elevators are fast (seriously underrated in vacation planning), the air conditioning actually works properly, and – this might sound weird – but the hallways are wide enough that you don’t feel like you’re bumping into everyone. Check-in was smooth, no weird surprise fees, and parking is included which saves you about 1,000 yen a day compared to some places. The pools are heated year-round, which matters more than you’d think since Okinawan winters can be surprisingly cool. I mean, we’re not talking freezing, but 65°F ocean water hits different than 80°F pool water. The only minor complaint? The WiFi gets a bit spotty during peak hours when everyone’s uploading their sunset photos, but honestly, that might be a feature not a bug. There’s something to be said for actually disconnecting. The whole vibe just feels… right, you know? Like someone designed it for people who actually travel, not just for Instagram.
Exclusive luxury healing resorts combine opulent amenities with therapeutic environments, offering personalized wellness journeys in some of the world’s most serene and beautiful locations.

Wonderfull property with amazing views. Kind and helpfull staff, great selection at buffet breakfast. All 3 hotel restaurants are also really great. Overall good value for money.
Room is of good size and stay was comfortable. Will need a car to get to hotel but there is shuttle service. Wide varieties of food for breakfast buffet.
What could be improved: It will be great if the Spa can be used for free instead of a fee.
Absolutely loved the hotel. We went there for valentines weekend with my husband and we enjoyed our stay so much. Also really like the buffet options as well as the spa.
There's a KBC shop to shop and indoor pool. Very friendly, cheerful and helpful staffs. Room was big and clean. Breakfast was good, especially the orange juice.
What could be improved: Nothing
