Look, I’ve stayed at a lot of Orlando hotels over the years, and the Orlando World Center Marriott is one of those places that actually gets it right. When you pull up to this massive resort on World Center Drive – and I mean massive, this thing sprawls forever – your first thought might be “oh great, another tourist factory.” But honestly? It works better than it has any right to.

The location is what initially sold me on this place. You’re literally five minutes from Disney’s back entrance, which means you can skip that nightmare traffic on 192 that everyone else sits in for an hour. I mean, sure, you’re not walking to the parks, but you’re close enough that you can pop back for afternoon naps without feeling like you’ve wasted half your day driving. Plus – and this is something most people don’t realize – you’re right next to some actually decent non-theme park restaurants. There’s this whole Marriott Village area nearby where you can grab dinner without cartoon characters, which trust me, becomes important by day three of your Disney trip.

What surprised me most was how they handle the crowds. Yeah, it’s busy (especially during summer and holidays), but the resort is so big that it somehow doesn’t feel cramped. The pool area is genuinely impressive – not just one of those tiny hotel rectangles, but multiple pools including this lazy river that my kids basically lived in. The lobby can get a bit chaotic during check-in time, around 3-4 PM, but the staff actually seems to know what they’re doing. Parking is free, which honestly shouldn’t be noteworthy but here we are in 2024 where hotels charge you to park at your own room.

The rooms themselves are solid Marriott standard – nothing that’ll blow your mind, but clean, comfortable beds, and the AC actually works (crucial in Florida, obviously). I appreciated that the blackout curtains are real blackout curtains, not those flimsy things that let in every bit of morning sun. You know what else? The walls aren’t paper thin. I was expecting to hear every conversation from the neighboring rooms filled with tired families, but it was actually pretty quiet.

Here’s the thing though – this isn’t a boutique experience where everyone knows your name. It’s a well-oiled machine designed to handle thousands of theme park visitors efficiently, and it does that job really well. The breakfast situation can be a zoo, so either go super early or just grab something from the market downstairs. And if you’re planning to use the resort shuttle to Disney, check the schedule first because it’s not as frequent as you’d hope.

Bottom line: if you want to be close to Disney without paying Disney resort prices, and you don’t mind staying somewhere that feels more like a really nice convention hotel than a intimate getaway, this place delivers. I’ve stayed here three times now, which probably tells you everything you need to know. Just book early if you’re coming during peak season – this place fills up fast, and for good reason.
