Papa Jolly Eco Resort-Near Morjim Beach

You know what caught me off guard about Papa Jolly? It’s actually tucked away on this quiet stretch of the Morjim-Ashwem road where you can still hear the ocean but you’re not dealing with all the beach shack chaos. I mean, Morjim’s gotten pretty touristy over the years, but this little eco resort sits in New Vaddo where it still feels… well, sort of like the old Goa vibe everyone’s chasing these days. The owners clearly put thought into keeping things simple – there’s no marble lobby or anything flashy, just this genuinely relaxed setup with local materials and plants everywhere that actually look healthy (which honestly tells you something about how much they care).

The rooms are solid for what you’re paying – nothing fancy, but they’ve got character and the AC works properly, which matters more than you’d think during those humid April nights. What I really appreciated was how quiet it gets after sunset. You’re close enough to walk to Morjim Beach in about ten minutes, maybe fifteen if you’re taking your time, but far enough back that you don’t get the late-night party noise from the beach bars. The staff genuinely knows the area too – they pointed me toward this little spice garden walk that I never would’ve found otherwise, and they were spot-on about which taxi drivers to trust for day trips up to Arambol.

Here’s the thing though – it’s definitely more about connecting with the natural side of North Goa than having resort-style amenities. The pool’s nice but small, breakfast is fresh local stuff rather than a big buffet spread, and you’ll want to rent a scooter because while the location is peaceful, you’re not walking distance to much besides the beach and a couple of local joints. But that’s actually what makes it work. I’ve stayed at fancier places in Goa that felt like they could’ve been anywhere, you know? Papa Jolly feels like it belongs exactly where it is – and after a few days of those Morjim sunsets and waking up to actual bird sounds instead of traffic, you start to get why they call it an eco resort. It’s not perfect (the WiFi can be spotty, and hot water takes a minute to kick in), but it’s real in a way that’s getting harder to find along this coast.
