Look, I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to PGA National Resort, I was expecting another generic Florida golf resort with palm trees and overpriced drinks. But this place actually surprised me. The moment you drive down Avenue of the Champions (yes, that’s really what the street is called), you can tell they’re not messing around. The entrance has this understated elegance that doesn’t scream “look at me” like some of the flashier resorts down in Miami.
What really got me was how they’ve managed to feel both polished and relaxed at the same time. The lobby’s got these massive windows that let in all that gorgeous South Florida light, and you can actually hear the golfers teeing off in the distance – which is either charming or slightly annoying depending on how early you’re trying to sleep in. The staff genuinely seems to know what they’re doing, not just going through the motions. Check-in was smooth, parking is valet or self (thank god), and they actually remember your name after day one. The rooms are spacious with that crisp, clean feel you want from a five-star place, though honestly, the real magic happens when you step outside.
Here’s the thing about Palm Beach Gardens that a lot of people don’t realize – you’re perfectly positioned between the craziness of West Palm Beach and the quieter, more upscale vibe of Jupiter. PGA National sits right in this sweet spot where you can hit the Gardens Mall if you need some retail therapy, grab dinner at some seriously good restaurants along PGA Boulevard, or just stay put and use their spa (which, by the way, is where they host those mineral pools that everyone raves about). The golf courses are obviously the main draw – I mean, they host PGA Tour events here – but even if you’re not into golf, there’s something pretty cool about walking around grounds that are just meticulously maintained. The resort feels big enough that you’re not bumping into the same people constantly, but not so massive that you need a map to find the pool. And speaking of the pool, it’s actually multiple pools with different vibes – some for families, some for adults who want to read their book in peace. The 8.0 rating makes sense to me because while everything is genuinely high-quality, it’s not trying to be the flashiest place in Florida. It’s more like that friend who’s really successful but doesn’t need to brag about it constantly, you know?
