Riva Beach Resort Overview
You know what struck me first about Riva Beach Resort? It’s not actually right on Mandrem Beach like you might expect from the name – there’s this little walk through some local homes and sandy paths before you hit the shoreline. I mean, it’s maybe three minutes tops, but it’s worth knowing if you’re planning to shuttle back and forth with beach gear all day.
The resort itself sits in this quieter pocket of Mandrem, which honestly works in its favor. While the main beach strip can get pretty hectic during peak season (especially around Christmas and New Year when the Russians and Europeans descend en masse), this spot feels more tucked away. The rooms are spacious – I’m talking proper 5-star size with those high ceilings that actually keep things cool during Goa’s brutal afternoon heat. The AC works well too, which isn’t always a given even at upscale places here. What I really appreciated was the bathroom setup – separate shower area with decent water pressure, though the hot water takes a minute or two to kick in during morning hours.
The pool area is where this place really shines, actually. It’s got this laid-back vibe where you can grab a proper coffee (not just instant) and settle in with a book. The staff – mostly local guys from nearby villages – are genuinely friendly without being pushy about ordering drinks every five minutes. Food’s decent too, though honestly, you’ll want to venture out to some of the beach shacks for the real Goan experience. There’s this little place called Sublime just down the beach path that does incredible seafood curry – way better than the resort restaurant, if we’re being honest. The resort breakfast is solid though, with fresh fruit that’s actually ripe and eggs made to order.
Parking’s straightforward, which matters more than you’d think in Mandrem where some places leave you scrambling for street spots. Check-in was smooth around 2 PM, and they’ll hold your bags if you arrive earlier and want to hit the beach. One thing to note – the WiFi gets spotty during evening hours when everyone’s back from the beach and scrolling Instagram. Also, if you’re a light sleeper, ask for a room away from the main road. It’s not terrible, but you’ll get the occasional motorbike convoy around 6 AM when the fishermen head out.
The 7.0 rating makes sense to me – it’s genuinely comfortable and well-maintained, but it’s missing that extra something that would make it truly memorable. Maybe it’s the slightly corporate feel compared to some of the boutique properties popping up around North Goa, or maybe it’s just that Mandrem itself is still finding its rhythm between sleepy fishing village and tourist destination. Either way, if you want a reliable base for exploring this stretch of coast without dealing with the chaos of Baga or Calangute, Riva does the job well. Just don’t expect to fall head-over-heels in love with the place.

The facilities, clean pool, clean beach
Breakfast and dinner is very normal. The taste should be enhanced. No local food was included in the menu, it was very disappointing. Location is very good to enjoy the beach, it would been more good if they have shacks to sit on the beach. Room:...
A good resort in general, very close to the beach. The breakfast is good, though not incredible. The employees are kind and happy to help. The ambiance is calm with no noise, making it perfect for families and couples

Major plus is the location of the resort. Both river and sea views are excellent. Food quality is good with multiple options . The property has 3 pools which are well maintained.
The resort is beautiful, extending gracefully across a vast and scenic landscape, quite close to the beach.
Food was good
The overall experience was amazing from location, accessibility to the beach, the ambience to the service.

Overall, this is a fantastic resort to stay in if you want to move away from the hustle and bustle of a city and spend time in a tranquil and beautiful place. The room we were given (406) is very spacious and had a great view of the sea as well as...
