You know what struck me first about Sea Queen? It’s actually tucked away on the quieter stretch between Colva and Betalbatim beaches, which honestly makes all the difference if you’ve ever dealt with the crowds at main Colva. The resort sits right where the sand gets softer and the beach vendors thin out – I mean, you’ll still get the occasional “fresh prawns, madam!” but it’s way more chill than the circus near the main Colva bus stop.

The property itself has that classic Goa colonial vibe without trying too hard, if that makes sense. White-washed walls, terracotta tiles, lots of palms swaying around – but the rooms are properly modern inside. I was pleasantly surprised by the AC (it actually works, unlike some places I’ve stayed), and the bathrooms are spacious with decent water pressure. The spa is where they really shine though – they do this Ayurvedic treatment that uses local coconut oil, and after a day of dealing with Goa’s humidity, it’s basically heaven. The pool area gets busy around 11 AM when families start filtering down, but early morning or late afternoon it’s perfect for actual swimming rather than just posing for Instagram.

Here’s the thing about the location – you’re about a 10-minute walk to the main Colva action if you want the beach shacks and nightlife, but you can also easily explore Betalbatim’s fishing village vibe in the other direction. The resort runs a shuttle to Margao station which is clutch if you’re doing day trips (the local buses are an adventure, but not always the good kind). Food-wise, their restaurant does solid Goan fish curry – not quite as good as what you’ll get at Martin’s Corner down the road, but convenient when you can’t be bothered to venture out. The breakfast spread is actually impressive, especially the fresh tropical fruits and made-to-order dosas. Staff are genuinely helpful too, not just going through the motions – they helped me sort out a scooter rental and gave proper directions, not just vague hand-waving.

The only minor gripe? The Wi-Fi gets sketchy during evening hours when everyone’s online, and if you’re in one of the garden-view rooms, you might hear some noise from the main road. But honestly, for a 5-star place in this part of Goa, Sea Queen delivers on the promise of a proper beach resort without the pretension you sometimes get at the fancier North Goa spots.
