HOTEL OVERVIEW
Okay, so I’ve stayed at a bunch of places on the Strip, but SKYLOFTS at MGM Grand is honestly in a different league entirely. When you walk into the private elevator area – and I mean private, like they actually check your room key before you can even press a button – you immediately know this isn’t your typical Vegas hotel experience. The whole thing sits on floors 29-31 of the MGM tower, which means you’re literally above all the casino chaos but still connected to everything.
The lofts themselves are ridiculous in the best way possible. I’m talking floor-to-ceiling windows that give you these sweeping views of the Strip (try to snag a west-facing room if you can), and the space is just… well, it’s actually like having an apartment. The bedroom is separate from this massive living area, there’s a full kitchen with a wine fridge that actually works, and the bathroom has both a soaking tub and a glass shower that’s probably bigger than most hotel rooms. What really got me though was the little details – like how they stock the place with Kiehl’s products and there’s this ridiculously soft robe hanging in the closet that I may have considered stealing. The beds are these custom king setups that honestly ruined hotel beds for me everywhere else.
Here’s what you need to know about the location part – you’re technically in MGM Grand, which means you can walk through the casino to get anywhere on the mid-Strip without dealing with the outdoor crowds (huge plus during summer when it’s 115 degrees). But the real advantage is having your own dedicated concierge team. I mean, these people can get dinner reservations that are supposedly impossible and somehow arranged show tickets I thought were sold out. The pool situation is interesting too – you get access to both the SKYLOFTS pool, which is tiny but never crowded, and the main MGM pools if you want the whole scene. Traffic noise isn’t really an issue up there, though you’ll definitely hear the occasional helicopter doing Strip tours during the day. One small thing – the elevator can be slow during peak times since there are only two that go to the SKYLOFT floors, but honestly, when you’re paying this much, waiting three extra minutes feels petty to complain about. If you’re doing Vegas for something special and want to feel like you’re staying somewhere exclusive without leaving the Strip energy behind, this place actually delivers on that promise.
