I mean, the location is honestly pretty sweet – you can grab your morning chai from the little stall right outside, then wander down to watch the fishermen bring in their catch before the beach gets crowded with tourists. The rooms themselves are… well, they’re clean and functional, though don’t expect anything fancy. The AC works (crucial during those humid Kerala nights), and honestly, you’ll probably spend most of your time on the small balcony anyway, especially if you snag one of the upper floors with partial sea views.

What I actually love about Soma Palmshore is how it feels like staying in someone’s slightly oversized beach house rather than a proper hotel. The staff genuinely remembers your name after day one, and they’ll give you the real scoop on things – like which ayurvedic centers are worth your time versus the tourist traps, or when the local temple festivals are happening. During my last stay, the power went out (happens sometimes in Kovalam, especially during monsoon season), and instead of everyone just sitting around complaining, the whole place turned into this impromptu gathering with candles and stories.
