The property sits perfectly positioned for early morning safari drives (and trust me, you’ll want to do those 6 AM starts), just close enough to the gate that you’re not rushing through your coffee but far enough back that you don’t get the dust clouds from other safari vehicles.

What really got me was how they’ve managed to create this luxury bubble without making it feel completely disconnected from where you actually are. The rooms are genuinely beautiful – think modern comfort with these thoughtful touches that nod to the local area, and the air conditioning actually works (which, let’s be real, is crucial when you’re coming back from a hot afternoon in the reserve). The staff here knows their stuff too, not just the usual hospitality training but actual knowledge about tiger movements and the best spots for wildlife viewing. I spent probably an hour just chatting with one of the naturalists about recent sightings, and he had this amazing story about a tigress they’d been tracking for months. The food surprised me as well – they do this great mix of local Maharashtrian dishes alongside more familiar options, and their dal was honestly better than what I’ve had in some Mumbai restaurants.

Here’s the thing though – this isn’t really a place where you lounge by the pool all day (though they do have one, and it’s nice for cooling off). You’re here for Tadoba, and Tathastu gets that completely. They’ll arrange your safari permits, wake you up at ungodly hours with a smile, pack you proper breakfast boxes, and when you come back either triumphant from a tiger sighting or slightly disappointed from a quiet drive, they’re ready with cold towels and that perfect post-safari lunch. The location means you’re dealing with some reality checks – occasional power cuts during monsoon season, insects that come with forest territory, and you’ll definitely hear the jungle at night (which I actually loved, but fair warning if you’re a light sleeper). But honestly, that 9.2 rating makes complete sense when you realize they’ve figured out how to deliver five-star comfort while keeping you connected to why you came to this incredible part of Maharashtra in the first place.
