The IBNII – Eco Luxury Resort Overview
You know what really struck me about The IBNII when I first pulled up that winding road to Ibnivalavadi Village? It’s how they’ve managed to create this impossibly elegant resort without making it feel like they bulldozed the hillside to do it. I mean, you’re driving through coffee plantations and cardamom groves, and then suddenly there’s this stunning property that looks like it grew right out of the landscape – which, honestly, it sort of did.
The whole eco-luxury thing isn’t just marketing speak here. They’ve built these incredible villas using local materials, and I’m talking about stone that was literally quarried from the area and timber that feels like it has stories to tell. My room had this massive window that opened onto the valley, and in the early morning you can actually hear the mist moving through the trees (I know that sounds crazy, but you’ll know what I mean when you’re there). The staff – most of them are from nearby villages – will casually mention which coffee estate produces the beans in your morning cup, or point out when the sambhar deer usually come down to drink from the stream.
What really sets this place apart from other luxury resorts in Coorg is how they’ve embraced the whole working landscape around them. You’re not isolated in some tourist bubble – you’re genuinely in the middle of a thriving agricultural community. I spent an afternoon walking through the spice gardens with one of their naturalists, and we ended up chatting with farmers who’ve been working these hills for generations. The resort sources most of their produce from within a few kilometers, so dinner actually tastes like the place you’re visiting, if that makes sense. And honestly, after staying at plenty of five-star places that could be anywhere in the world, that connection to the local area felt pretty special. The 8.6 rating feels about right – it’s not perfect (the WiFi can be spotty during monsoon season, and the road up can be a bit harrowing if you’re not used to mountain driving), but there’s something authentic about this place that makes those minor inconveniences feel pretty insignificant when you’re sipping estate coffee on your private deck, watching the Western Ghats disappear into the clouds.
Guest Reviews
The front desk staffs especially Ms. Tejaswini, the buggy drivers, hospitality staff at the hotel, and the cafeteria are extremely friendly. No matter what time it is, they always wear smile on their face with pride. Loved it......
Everything was good.
- **Expansive Property**: The resort is vast and surrounded by stunning wilderness, much larger than many other popular resorts in Coorg like Tamara or Aurika. It's an ideal place for those looking to disconnect and immerse themselves in nature. -...
