Look, I’ve stayed at a lot of Ritz-Carltons over the years, and honestly? The Naples location is one of those properties that’s genuinely beautiful but feels a bit… well, dated in some ways. Don’t get me wrong – when you pull up that winding drive off Vanderbilt Beach Road (and yes, valet parking is smooth as butter), the first thing that hits you is how lush everything is. The landscaping is absolutely ridiculous in the best way possible, with those massive royal palms and perfectly manicured gardens that somehow don’t look fake.
The thing about this place is it sits right in Pelican Bay, which if you know Naples at all, you know that’s serious money territory. You’re literally a few minutes’ walk from one of the prettier stretches of beach on the Gulf Coast – and I mean the kind of white sand that actually squeaks under your feet. The hotel itself has this old-school Florida elegance thing going on, lots of marble and dark wood, which some people absolutely love. Me? I appreciate it, but there are moments where it feels like your wealthy aunt’s house from 1995. The rooms are spacious though, and if you snag one of the gulf-view suites, those sunsets are genuinely spectacular. Pro tip: the higher floors are worth the upgrade because you get above the tree line and can actually see the water properly.
What’s interesting is how this property attracts a very specific crowd – lots of retirees with serious disposable income, families doing the whole “fancy Florida vacation” thing, and surprisingly, quite a few business travelers who prefer this to the busier spots in downtown Naples. The spa is legitimately good (I’m picky about massages), and that pool area… honestly, it’s where you’ll probably spend most of your time. The beach service is solid too – they’ll set you up with chairs and umbrellas without the usual resort hassle. Food-wise, the restaurants are fine but not groundbreaking. You’re paying Ritz prices for what’s essentially very good hotel food, which, you know what, sometimes that’s exactly what you want. The Club Level is actually worth it here if you’re into that sort of thing – the evening appetizers are substantial enough to call dinner if you’re not super hungry. Just be aware that during season (basically January through April), this place gets busy and the average age skews pretty high. If you’re looking for a lively scene, you might want to venture into downtown Naples for dinner – it’s only about fifteen minutes away and there’s some genuinely great stuff happening on 5th Avenue. Overall, it’s one of those hotels that delivers exactly what it promises: polished, comfortable, and undeniably luxurious, even if it’s not going to surprise you.
