Tokyo Bay Maihama Hotel Overview
Look, I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to Tokyo Bay Maihama Hotel, I wasn’t expecting much. The building itself is pretty standard business hotel fare from the outside, nothing fancy. But you know what? Sometimes the best places are the ones that don’t try too hard to impress you at first glance.
The location is actually brilliant if you know the area. You’re literally a few minutes’ walk from JR Maihama Station, which means you can hop on the Keiyo Line and be in central Tokyo in about 15 minutes – no transfers needed. But here’s the thing most people don’t realize: you’re also walking distance to both Disney parks without dealing with the crazy crowds around the Disney Resort hotels. I mean, it’s maybe a 10-minute stroll to DisneySea’s entrance, and you’ll save a fortune compared to staying at the official Disney properties. The staff actually seems to get this – they had park maps ready and knew the bus schedules by heart.
What really sold me on this place was the attention to small details that matter when you’re tired from a long day. The rooms are compact (this is Japan, after all), but they’re thoughtfully laid out. The bathroom has one of those deep Japanese tubs that’s perfect after walking around theme parks all day, and honestly, the water pressure is better than some five-star places I’ve stayed. The beds are firm – which I personally love, though if you prefer soft mattresses, just know what you’re getting into. There’s also this nice touch where they provide different pillow options, which… well, it sounds silly, but when you’re jet-lagged, that kind of thing matters.
The breakfast buffet is where this hotel really shines. It’s not huge, but they do this interesting mix of Western and Japanese options that actually works. Their tamagoyaki (sweet egg rolls) are legit – my Japanese colleague was impressed, which is saying something. Plus, they open early enough that you can fuel up before heading to the parks when they open. Speaking of timing, if you’re planning a Disney trip, book this place well in advance during Japanese school holidays. The rates jump and availability gets tight because locals figured out this little secret too.
One minor thing – the walls aren’t super thick, so if you’re a light sleeper, pack earplugs. It’s not terrible, but you might hear your neighbors if they’re excited kids talking about tomorrow’s Disney plans. The air conditioning is pretty quiet though, which is more than I can say for a lot of hotels in this price range.
The whole experience just feels… practical in the best way. The staff speaks decent English, check-in was smooth even when I arrived early, and they’ll hold your luggage if you want to explore before your room’s ready. It’s the kind of place where everything works like it should, without any fuss or pretense. For a 4-star hotel with an 8.7 rating, it delivers exactly what those numbers promise – solid comfort, smart location, and enough personality to make you feel like you chose well rather than just picked the first available room.

Great hotel which was perfect for its price point.
What could be improved: No (self) laundry in the building, but we could go to a neighbouring hotel which was helpful.
