Villa Casagrande Resort e SPA Overview
First Impressions
When I first pulled up to Villa Casagrande Resort e SPA, honestly, I wasn’t expecting much from what looked like a quiet corner of Tuscany. But you know what? Sometimes the best discoveries happen when you’re not trying too hard to find them. This four-star property sits in Figline Valdarno, about halfway between Florence and Arezzo — close enough to day-trip to either, but far enough away that you actually want to stay put. The villa itself has this understated elegance that feels more like visiting a well-connected friend’s country house than checking into a hotel.
The Tuscan Setting
The location is what really sets this place apart, and I mean that in the best possible way. You’re nestled in the Valdarno valley with rolling hills stretching in every direction — it’s the kind of view that makes you understand why people move to Tuscany and never leave. What surprised me most was how peaceful it felt despite being just off the main road. There’s free parking right on site (which, trust me, is a blessing when you’re navigating Italian hill towns), and the whole property feels like it exists in its own little bubble of calm.
Accommodations and Comfort
My room had that perfect balance of traditional Tuscan charm and modern comfort — think exposed beams and terracotta floors, but with air conditioning that actually works. The beds are genuinely comfortable (I’m picky about this), and the bathrooms are spacious enough that you’re not bumping elbows with your travel companion. What I really appreciated was the attention to details like proper lighting for reading and outlets where you actually need them. It’s clear they’ve thought about what travelers actually want, not just what looks good in photos.
Wellness and Dining
The spa here is where Villa Casagrande really shines — it’s not huge, but it’s thoughtfully designed with a hot tub that overlooks the gardens and treatment rooms that feel genuinely relaxing rather than clinical. I spent way more time than planned just lounging around the wellness area. The breakfast deserves its own mention too — it’s a proper Italian spread with local pastries, fresh fruit, and coffee that doesn’t taste like it came from a machine. The restaurant focuses on regional specialties, and while the menu isn’t extensive, everything I tried was well-executed and clearly made with quality ingredients.
Why Guests Love It
Here’s the thing that really struck me — this place has an unusually high number of repeat guests, and after spending a few days here, I totally get why. It’s not trying to be the flashiest or most Instagram-worthy spot in Tuscany. Instead, it delivers on the fundamentals: genuine hospitality, a beautiful setting, and that rare quality of making you feel genuinely relaxed rather than just temporarily distracted. Couples especially seem to love it here (the 8.9 location rating from pairs speaks for itself), probably because it strikes that sweet spot between romantic and comfortable. You can explore the Chianti region during the day and come back to a place that feels like a proper retreat, not just a place to sleep.
