Honestly, I wasn’t sure what to expect when I first pulled up to the Waldorf Astoria Park City out on Frostwood Boulevard. The drive from Main Street takes you through the Canyons area, and you know what? It’s actually perfect that it’s tucked away from all the tourist chaos downtown. The moment you walk into that lobby, though – I mean, wow. There’s this massive stone fireplace that immediately makes you want to grab a whiskey and settle in for the night, and the whole place has that mountain luxury vibe without feeling stuffy or pretentious.

What really got me was how they’ve managed to nail that sweet spot between fancy resort and actual mountain lodge. The rooms are legitimately spacious (not just hotel-brochure spacious), and I loved that you can actually open the windows – sounds silly, but you’d be surprised how many high-end places seal you in completely. The beds are ridiculously comfortable, though I’ll be honest, the pillows were almost too fluffy for my taste. The best part? Most rooms have these incredible views of the surrounding peaks, and if you’re there in winter, watching the snow fall while you’re warm inside with a cup of coffee is pretty magical. Parking is valet only, which might annoy some people, but the staff was quick about it and honestly, it’s nice not having to scrape ice off your windshield at 7 AM.

The location really works in your favor – you’re close enough to the Canyons Village that you can walk to lifts and restaurants, but far enough from the Main Street madness that you actually get some peace and quiet. I stayed during peak ski season (big mistake budget-wise, but whatever), and even then the hotel never felt overcrowded or chaotic. The spa is genuinely relaxing, not just Instagram-pretty, and their restaurant does this elk dish that I’m still thinking about months later. Look, it’s definitely expensive – we’re talking Waldorf prices in a ski town, so you know what you’re getting into – but if you’re planning a special trip or just want to treat yourself properly, it’s worth the splurge. The service feels personal rather than scripted, and there’s something to be said for a place where you can come back from a day on the mountain and immediately feel like you’re somewhere special.
