HOTEL OVERVIEW
You know what? I’ll be honest – when I first heard about the Swan Reserve, I thought it was just Disney trying to squeeze more money out of an already expensive vacation. But after staying there, I actually get it now. This place sits right between the original Swan and Dolphin hotels on Epcot Resorts Boulevard, and while those two can feel a bit dated and chaotic with convention crowds, the Reserve feels like someone finally figured out how to do luxury right in this corner of Disney World.
The whole vibe is different from the moment you walk in – there’s this calm, almost zen-like atmosphere that’s honestly refreshing after dealing with screaming kids on the monorail all day. The lobby has these gorgeous floor-to-ceiling windows that look out toward the lake, and you can actually see Epcot’s Spaceship Earth in the distance if you know where to look. What really sold me though was the attention to detail in the rooms. I mean, yes, you’re paying Disney prices, but the bedding is legitimately some of the best I’ve experienced at any hotel, and the bathrooms have these rainfall showers that make you want to just stand there forever. The whole place feels more like a boutique hotel than typical Disney accommodation – even the hallways are quiet, which is saying something when you’re basically surrounded by theme parks.
Here’s the thing that makes this place special though – you get all the Disney perks without feeling like you’re sleeping inside a theme park. Early park access, Disney transportation (the boat to Epcot and Hollywood Studios is actually pretty convenient, though the bus to Magic Kingdom takes forever), and you can make dining reservations 60 days out just like any other Disney resort guest. But when you come back at night, it doesn’t feel like you’re still “on” if that makes sense. The rooftop bar – Amare – has become one of my favorite spots in all of Orlando, especially around sunset when you can see the fireworks from both Epcot and Hollywood Studios. Sure, drinks are pricey, but honestly, where aren’t they around here? The pool area is smaller than what you’ll find at the bigger Disney resorts, but it’s also way less crowded, and there’s something to be said for being able to actually find a chair without getting up at 6 AM to reserve one with a towel. Just know that if you’re coming during busy seasons – really, any time kids are out of school – you’ll want to book way in advance because this place fills up fast, and once people discover it, they tend to come back.
