With The Style Fukuoka Overview
Look, I’ve stayed at a lot of places in Fukuoka, and With The Style honestly caught me off guard – in the best way possible. When you first walk up to it on Hakataeki Minami street, it doesn’t scream “look at me” like some of those flashy business hotels, but there’s this understated elegance that makes you stop and think, okay, someone actually put thought into this place. The entrance has this clean, almost minimalist vibe that feels very Japanese but not in that trying-too-hard way some boutique hotels do.
What really sold me was the location – I mean, you’re literally a three-minute walk from Hakata Station, which sounds touristy until you realize what that actually means for your daily life there. You can grab the subway to anywhere in the city without breaking a sweat, but more importantly, you’re right in the thick of where actual Fukuoka residents eat and shop. There’s this little ramen joint around the corner (locals queue up there around 7 PM, trust me on this) and the whole Hakata-ku area has this energy that’s busy but not overwhelming. I actually found myself just wandering the side streets in the evening because there’s always something happening – salary workers grabbing drinks, students heading to karaoke, that sort of authentic city rhythm you can’t fake.
The rooms themselves are what you’d expect from a solid 4-star place, but with these little touches that show someone was paying attention. The lighting is warm instead of that harsh fluorescent you get in business hotels, and honestly, the bed was one of those where you sink in just enough without feeling like you’re drowning in softness. What I really appreciated was how quiet it stays – even being so close to the station, you don’t get that constant rumble of trains or street noise that can drive you crazy after a few nights. The staff, well, they have that Japanese hospitality thing down to an art form, but without the robotic feeling you sometimes get at chain places. Check-in was smooth, they actually remembered my name the next day, and when I asked about local recommendations, they gave me real answers instead of just pointing to tourist traps.
You know what really impressed me though? The breakfast situation – they’ve got this mix of Western and Japanese options that doesn’t feel like they’re trying to please everyone and ending up pleasing no one. The coffee was actually good (which, let’s be honest, can be hit or miss in Japan), and they had proper miso soup alongside decent pastries. It’s those kinds of details that make you realize why this place has such a high rating. Would I stay here again? Absolutely, especially if I wanted to feel connected to the real Fukuoka while still having a comfortable, well-run place to come back to at the end of the day.
Guest Reviews
The staff were amazing, this has been our favourite place to stay in Japan so far. We had a very special dinner at medium rare I would highly recommend.
What could be improved: Wish we'd stayed longer!
Right near the train station but very quiet so central location, the hotel has very spacious rooms and balconies with everything a traveler could want and more, the design and service were terrific. We couldn’t have had a better stay, beautiful! ...
Well appointed, fun mud-century modern decor. Very close to the train station, easy access to subway system.
What could be improved: Service in restaurant not very attentive. You had to seek them.
breakfast is very good
Great facilities, great breakfast, and exceptional staff and service. What could be improved: The key system to the door for the room is outdated. It’s a physical key that is very heavy and bulky. You need to turn in and pickup the key every time...
Staff is amazing! Property is nice. Nice restaurants in the hotel. Station and restaurants in walking distance.
What could be improved: Rooms are a little dark. Could use better lighting
Ambiance and atmosphere, staff, and breakfast were superb. WTS is a special and unique boutique property.
Super stylish, great staff, big and comfortable room.
What could be improved: Location isn't super convenient
What could be improved: Check in space was a little uncomfortable; practically in dining room with little space to manage luggage and such. Staff was gracious and helpful.
Service is amazing. The room is spacious and well equipped. Food is delicious.
