Xandari Pearl Beach Resort Overview
Look, I’ve stayed at plenty of beach resorts in Kerala, but Xandari Pearl Beach Resort actually surprised me in ways I wasn’t expecting. First off, finding it is pretty straightforward once you know that Arattukulam Junction is your landmark – honestly, most taxi drivers from Alleppey town know exactly where you’re going once you mention Beach Road near Mararikulam North. The whole area is this perfect sweet spot where you’re not dealing with the tourist chaos of Varkala, but you’re not stuck in the middle of nowhere either.
What really got me was how they’ve managed to keep that authentic Kerala vibe without sacrificing comfort. I mean, this is definitely a 5-star place – the rooms are spacious, AC works like a dream (crucial during those humid April afternoons), and the bathroom situation is actually impressive. But you know what struck me most? The sound design, if that makes sense. You can hear the waves from your room, but they’ve positioned everything so you’re not getting the kitchen noise or staff chatter that ruins the peace at so many beachfront places. The morning sounds are incredible – just birds and gentle surf, maybe some distant fishing boat engines around 6 AM when the local guys head out.
The beach itself is where this place really shines, though. Mararikulam beach isn’t one of those Instagram-famous spots, which honestly works in your favor. You’ll have stretches of sand pretty much to yourself, especially if you walk about ten minutes north of the resort. The water’s clean – I saw families from nearby villages bringing their kids here, which is always a good sign. Swimming is totally doable, though the waves can get playful during monsoon season. Staff mentioned that turtle nesting happens here sometimes between December and March, which is pretty cool if you’re into that sort of thing.
Food situation is solid – they do this evening seafood setup right on the beach that’s actually worth the money, not just tourist markup. The fish is clearly local catch, and their Kerala fish curry is the real deal, not the watered-down version you get at some resort places. Breakfast spread is generous too, though honestly, you might want to venture out to that little tea shop about half a kilometer toward the junction – best puttu and kadala curry I had during my entire Kerala trip, and the locals gathering there every morning made for some interesting conversations.
One thing to keep in mind – this area gets pretty quiet after dark, which is either perfect or problematic depending on what you’re after. If you want nightlife, you’re looking at a 20-minute ride back toward Alleppey proper. But if you’re here to actually unwind and maybe catch up on reading while listening to waves, it’s honestly hard to beat. The 8.4 rating makes sense to me – it’s not trying to be flashy or revolutionary, just really good at being a peaceful beach escape with proper Kerala hospitality. Check-in was smooth, parking is ample, and the whole place feels like it’s run by people who actually care about getting the details right.

Excellent ambience, private beach access was a highlight
Peaceful
The serenity, the location next to the beach, the pool area (that was kind of empty), the food (although it differed between room service and in the restaurant ), the outdoor shower, the staff
The resort is very beautiful . It is very peaceful and calm. Very beautiful views.
Restaurant and Staff.
Loved the room, it was very spacious and comfortable. Spent most of our stay there. Had a great time with friends. The herb garden was very lovely, enjoyed the property. Pleasant staff.
Breakfast was great. Dinner and lunch options were dull. For dinner buffet was more encouraged than providing other options.
Loved the rustic vibe, food from the restaurant is the best ever- the fish curry is so delicious. Staff are so humble, friendly and lovely. The plunge pool within the villa is well maintained. There is a cattle farm, veggie garden, play area and...

Easily one of the best rooms i have ever stayed in. Very spacious and amazing comfort. Food was good. The sell out factor was the proximity to the beach and safe to say we had a wonderful experience at the beach. The roofless bathrooms are...
