HOTEL OVERVIEW

Honestly, I wasn’t sure what to expect when I first pulled up to Yururi Nishiizu – the name alone had me practicing pronunciation in the car. But this place turned out to be one of those hidden gems that makes you feel like you’ve stumbled onto something the guidebooks haven’t ruined yet. It’s tucked away in Toi, which is basically the quiet cousin of the more famous Izu Peninsula hot spring towns, and that’s actually what makes it perfect.

The moment you walk in, there’s this immediate sense of… well, I guess the Japanese would call it “yururi” – that unhurried, relaxed feeling the hotel takes its name from. The lobby isn’t trying to impress anyone with marble and chandeliers; instead, it’s got these warm wood tones and floor-to-ceiling windows that frame the coastline in a way that makes you stop mid-sentence. I mean, the view literally stops conversations. The staff greets you with that genuine Japanese hospitality (not the rehearsed kind), and check-in feels more like being welcomed into someone’s really well-appointed home than a hotel transaction. The rooms – and I stayed in what they call a standard ocean-view – actually deliver on that ocean view promise. You know how sometimes “ocean view” means you can see a sliver of blue if you crane your neck? Not here. The balcony faces straight out toward the water, and if you’re lucky enough to be there during sunset, you’ll understand why this place consistently pulls in those high ratings.

What really sets Yururi Nishiizu apart though is its location on the peninsula. You’re close enough to drive to the more touristy spots like Shuzenji if you want the full onsen town experience, but far enough away that you can actually hear the waves at night instead of tour buses. The hotel’s own hot spring baths are fed by the same volcanic activity that makes this whole region special, and soaking in those outdoor pools while watching fishing boats dot the horizon – well, it’s the kind of moment that makes you forget about your phone for a while. Parking is included and actually spacious (surprisingly important when you’re navigating narrow mountain roads), and the breakfast spread features local Izu specialties alongside the usual suspects. The staff pointed me toward this little coastal walking trail that starts practically from the hotel’s back door – not something you’d find in the brochures, but exactly the kind of local knowledge that makes a stay memorable. Is it perfect? The WiFi can be spotty in some rooms, and if you don’t have a car, getting around requires some planning since Toi isn’t exactly a transit hub. But honestly, those feel like minor quibbles when you’re dealing with this level of tranquility and genuine hospitality in such a stunning setting.

Outdoor onsen bath (rotenburo) was really nice as well as dinner and breakfast.

a place for all true dog lovers with the possibility to spoil your dog with special treats, take pictures in different setting of your dog, with a cage for the dogs in the room and stroller for the dogs in the reception- and cosy onsens - unfortunately we are more cat persons.

was spacious. The staff were helpful. There were complimentary water bottles and beers in the room.

What could be improved: The hotel itself, just like other hotel in the same area, was old. The onsen in the building was not available so guests had to go out to another building to use it (free of charge). Even though it was a pet-friendly hotel, the dog meal price was really high (¥1500~/meal), and dog run was small (but you can take a long walk along the sea with your dogs).

環境整潔 是寵物旅館但完全看不到毛
還能帶寵物到餐廳一同用餐

What could be improved: booking的位置是錯的
是另外一間叫"あたら夜 西伊豆"的旅館

What could be improved: 冬なのにとても部屋が暑くてエアコンを切っても暑かった
寝る時も暑かった
それ以外は最高でした。

お風呂もロビーもワンちゃんが泊まる宿にしてわ綺麗で良かったです。
宿泊犬の明記も入り口に書かれてて、感動しました。

What could be improved: 素泊まりでしたが、もう少し犬の宿泊代が安ければ良いかなと思いました。
