HOTEL OVERVIEW
You know what surprised me most about the Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress? It actually feels like a proper resort, not just another Orlando hotel trying too hard. I mean, when you’re driving down Grand Cypress Boulevard — and honestly, the entrance alone is pretty impressive — you realize this place sits on what feels like its own little world, even though you’re literally minutes from Disney.
The grounds are what really get you. There’s this massive lagoon-style pool that sort of winds around like a lazy river (which, let’s be honest, is exactly what you want after a day of theme park madness), and the whole property has this tropical thing going on that doesn’t feel forced. The lobby’s got these soaring ceilings that make you stop and look up — I actually saw a kid do a full 360-degree spin trying to take it all in. Check-in was surprisingly smooth for a place this size, though I’d definitely avoid the Sunday afternoon rush when all the Disney families are either arriving or checking out. The staff seemed to know their stuff, which isn’t always a given in Orlando hotels.
What I really appreciated was how they’ve managed the Disney proximity without being overwhelmed by it. Sure, you’ll see plenty of families with Mickey ears, but the vibe feels more grown-up than your typical theme park hotel. The restaurants are actually decent — not just overpriced hotel food — and there’s enough space that you’re not constantly bumping into crowds. The golf course is legit too, if that’s your thing, though I’ll warn you that Florida humidity hits different when you’re out there in the afternoon. Parking’s free, which honestly shocked me given how close you are to all the action. The rooms themselves are solid — nothing revolutionary, but the beds are comfortable and the bathrooms have enough counter space that two people aren’t fighting over where to put their stuff. I stayed on the lagoon side and could actually hear the water features from my balcony, which was kind of nice for falling asleep. The resort shuttle to Disney parks runs pretty regularly, though honestly, having a car gives you way more flexibility for hitting up places like Winter Park or even downtown Orlando if you want a break from the theme park bubble. It’s one of those places where you could legitimately spend a few days without leaving the property, but you’re also positioned perfectly to explore beyond the usual tourist stuff.

amazing infrastructure. the only important tip is if you will order something at amazon, be prepared to pay twice (amazon ok) and fedex facilities inside the hotel. they charge to receive and deliver the package. besides that, great hotel
