HOTEL OVERVIEW
Honestly, when I first walked into the Loews Miami Beach, I wasn’t expecting much – I mean, Collins Avenue is packed with hotels that all claim to be special. But this place actually surprised me in the best way. The lobby has this warm, almost residential feel that’s nothing like those sterile glass towers you see everywhere else on the strip. You know what really got me? The staff genuinely seemed to know what they were doing, and check-in was smooth even during Art Basel week (which, if you’ve ever been to Miami during that chaos, you’ll understand is no small feat).
The location is pretty perfect if you ask me – you’re right in the heart of South Beach but far enough north on Collins that you’re not dealing with the absolute madness of the main drag every single night. Lincoln Road is literally a five-minute walk, and honestly, being able to duck back to your room when the scene gets too much is clutch. The beach access is what really sells it though. Most hotels make you walk through some weird maze to get to the sand, but here you just… go. Simple as that. The pool area faces west, so you get these incredible sunset views over the bay – something I didn’t even realize was a thing until I was sitting there with a drink around 6 PM wondering why everything looked so golden and perfect.
What really impressed me was how the hotel feels substantial without being overwhelming. The rooms are spacious by Miami standards (and I mean actually spacious, not “cozy” spacious), and the beds are legitimately comfortable – I’m talking about the kind of sleep where you forget you’re not at home. The bathrooms have these deep soaking tubs that actually fit a normal-sized human being, which sounds basic but you’d be amazed how many places get this wrong. There’s also this subtle art deco influence throughout that feels authentic to the neighborhood rather than forced. I stayed during a particularly busy weekend in March, and while you could hear some street noise with the windows open, it wasn’t the kind of bass-thumping chaos that keeps you up all night. The valet parking situation is honestly pretty reasonable for the area – not cheap, but not highway robbery either, and the guys know how to handle the perpetual Collins Avenue traffic jam. By the end of my stay, I was already thinking about when I could come back, which doesn’t happen often. It’s the kind of place that gets Miami Beach right without trying too hard to be something it’s not.
