Algarrobo, Laguna Bahía Espectacular

Look, I’ve stayed at a lot of beachfront places along Chile’s coast, but this apartment in Algarrobo honestly caught me off guard – and I mean that in the best way possible. When you’re driving down that winding access road to Laguna Bahía, you start to get why this place has such a ridiculous 9.8 rating. The building sits right where the lagoon meets the ocean, and from apartment 1309 (which is where I stayed), you’re basically getting a front-row seat to what locals call the most spectacular bay view in the region. They’re not exaggerating.

What really struck me about this place – beyond the obvious jaw-dropping scenery – is how it actually feels like someone’s well-loved home rather than a sterile hotel room. The apartment is spacious enough that you’re not tripping over your luggage, and honestly, the kitchen setup is better than what I have at home. You know what I really appreciated? The windows. Massive floor-to-ceiling things that frame the water perfectly, and in the morning when that light hits the lagoon… well, let’s just say I took way too many photos. The building itself is solid – none of that paper-thin wall nonsense you get at some coastal places, so you can actually sleep without hearing every conversation in the hallway. Parking was straightforward too, which if you’ve ever tried to find a decent spot in Algarrobo during summer, you’ll know that’s practically a miracle.

Here’s the thing about this location that most people don’t realize until they’re there – you’re getting the best of both worlds. The lagoon side is perfect for those calmer water activities (great for kids or if you just want to float around without getting pummeled by Pacific waves), while the ocean beach is literally a two-minute walk when you want the real surf experience. I spent most evenings just sitting on that balcony watching the sunset paint everything gold, and honestly, it never got old. The area stays pretty peaceful even during peak season because it’s just far enough from the main Algarrobo strip to avoid the chaos, but close enough that you can walk to decent restaurants when you don’t feel like cooking. Check-in was smooth – no waiting around or confusion about keys – and the whole experience just felt… easy, I guess. Sometimes you stay somewhere and everything works exactly like it should, and this was one of those times.
