You know what struck me first about Araliayas Resort & Spa? It’s actually tucked away on that stretch of Jhadol Road where the city starts melting into countryside – maybe fifteen minutes from the main Lake Pichola area, but honestly, it feels like you’ve escaped Udaipur’s tourist chaos completely. I mean, you’re still close enough to zip into the old city for dinner (though the auto-rickshaw drivers sometimes need convincing to make the trip back), but there’s this lovely sense of being somewhere more… I don’t know, authentic maybe?

The property itself has that modern Rajasthani vibe going on – lots of sandstone and carved details, but without feeling like they’re trying too hard to recreate a palace. The rooms are genuinely spacious, which you don’t always get even at five-star places here, and most have these private terraces that look out over the Aravalli hills. Actually, if you can swing it, ask for something on the upper floors facing west – the sunsets are pretty spectacular, especially during winter months when the air’s clearer. The spa’s the real highlight though. They do this incredible Ayurvedic treatment using local herbs, and the therapists actually know what they’re doing (not always a given, even at upscale places). I spent a solid two hours there and emerged feeling like a completely different person.

Now, I’ll be straight with you – the 7.6 rating makes sense when you consider a few things. The service can be a bit hit-or-miss depending on which staff you get, and the restaurant, while decent, isn’t going to blow you away if you’re used to Udaipur’s better dining spots. The pool area gets pretty busy during peak season (October through March), and there’s this weird echo thing happening around the main lobby that makes conversations feel louder than they should be. But honestly? None of that really bothered me much because the location is just so peaceful. You wake up to actual bird sounds instead of traffic, the WiFi works reliably throughout the property (crucial for digital nomads), and there’s plenty of parking if you’re driving – which is more valuable than you’d think in this part of Rajasthan. Plus, they’re genuinely helpful with arranging local trips. The concierge actually steered me toward this amazing little temple near Nai Gaon that I never would’ve found otherwise. If you’re looking for that sweet spot between luxury and authenticity, without being right in the thick of Udaipur’s tourist madness, this place delivers pretty well.
