The Eighteen69 restaurant does excellent locally-sourced food (the Arran beef is something else). Need something more casual after the kids have been running around? The Cruize Bar works perfectly, and you can actually have a conversation without shouting.

Here’s what the travel websites don’t always mention – Auchrannie sits in this sweet spot where you’re close enough to walk into Brodick village (maybe 10 minutes down the road), but far enough up the hill that you get those proper views across to the Ayrshire coast. The parking’s never been an issue when I’ve visited, which honestly can’t be said for everywhere on Arran, especially during the summer months when the ferry brings waves of day-trippers. And speaking of timing – if you can swing a visit in late spring or early autumn, you’ll get the best of both worlds: decent weather and fewer crowds fighting for tables at dinner.
