Beyond by Sula

Honestly, I wasn’t sure what to expect when I first pulled up to Beyond by Sula – it’s tucked away on the Gangapur-Savargaon Road, which isn’t exactly where you’d think to look for a luxury hotel in Nashik. But that’s actually part of what makes this place special. You’re far enough from the city center to feel like you’ve escaped somewhere, but close enough that getting to the main wine country or the temples doesn’t require an expedition. The drive from Nashik proper takes maybe 20 minutes, and honestly, watching the landscape shift from urban chaos to these rolling hills is half the experience.

What struck me immediately was how they’ve managed to create this bubble of sophistication without losing the connection to where you actually are. I mean, you’re still in Maharashtra – you can hear the morning calls from nearby villages, smell the earth after the monsoons hit, see the Sahyadri hills stretching out in the distance. But the property itself feels like someone took the best parts of a boutique resort and dropped it into wine country. The architecture has this modern elegance that doesn’t try to pretend it’s somewhere else, you know? And the staff – well, they actually seem to know the area. When I asked about lesser-known wineries, the concierge didn’t just hand me a generic brochure; he sketched out a route that included this tiny family operation that I never would’ve found otherwise.

The rooms are what you’d hope for at this level – spacious, well-designed, with those little touches that show someone was actually thinking about how people live in a space rather than just how it photographs. But here’s what I really appreciated: the soundproofing is excellent (important when you want to sleep in after a wine-tasting day), the water pressure is consistently strong (not always a given in this part of India), and the air conditioning doesn’t sound like a tractor starting up. Small things, but they matter when you’re trying to relax. The restaurant takes advantage of being in an agricultural region – lots of local ingredients, and they’re not shy about showcasing Maharashtrian flavors alongside more international options. I had this incredible kokum curry that I’m still thinking about months later. The pool area gets busy in the late afternoon, but if you go early morning or around sunset, it’s perfect for unwinding. At 8.9 rating, it’s clearly hitting the mark for most people, and I can see why – it’s that rare place that feels both elevated and authentic, which isn’t easy to pull off in a region that’s still figuring out its tourism identity.
