Honestly, when I first walked down Courthouse Lane looking for this place, I almost missed it entirely – which is actually perfect because it means you’re tucked away from all the tourist chaos that hits Queen Street. This boutique apartment sits right in the heart of Auckland’s legal district, and I mean literally, you’re surrounded by these gorgeous heritage courthouse buildings that most visitors never even notice.

The apartment itself is one of those rare finds where everything just works. You know what I mean? The layout actually makes sense, the kitchen has proper counter space (not those joke counters you get in most city accommodations), and the bed is positioned so you’re not getting blasted by street noise at 6 AM when the delivery trucks start their rounds. Speaking of noise – it’s surprisingly quiet here, especially considering you’re maybe a three-minute walk from Britomart. The thick walls of these converted heritage buildings are honestly a blessing. I stayed here during Auckland Arts Festival week when the city was absolutely buzzing, and still managed to get decent sleep.

What really got me was the location intelligence, if that makes sense. You’re literally around the corner from Federal Delicatessen (get the pastrami, seriously), and there’s this little wine bar called The Lodge that locals actually frequent – not the kind of place that’s packed with cruise ship crowds. The apartment’s positioning means you can walk to Viaduct Harbour in about eight minutes, but you’re also perfectly placed for exploring the actual Auckland that residents know. Takutai Square is right there for your morning coffee run, and if you’re into the whole waterfront thing, you can cut through the back streets to reach the harbor without dealing with the main tourist drags.

I’ll be honest though – parking around here can be a bit of a nightmare during weekdays since you’re in the business district, but the trade-off is worth it. The apartment has that perfect sweet spot feeling where you’re close enough to everything that matters, but far enough from the backpacker hostels and tour bus pickup points that you actually feel like you’re experiencing Auckland rather than just visiting it. Plus, the check-in process was refreshingly straightforward – none of that awkward lobby waiting around that you get with the big chain hotels. The whole setup just feels more… real, I guess. Like staying at a friend’s place who happens to have excellent taste and actually knows the city.
