Coconut Creek Resort – Dabolim Airport

You know what caught me off guard about Coconut Creek Resort? It’s actually way more peaceful than you’d expect for a place this close to Dabolim Airport. I mean, you’re literally in Bogmalo – which honestly most people just zip through on their way to the beaches up north – but there’s something really refreshing about staying somewhere that feels properly Goan without all the tourist circus.

The whole setup is pretty laid-back in that authentic way that’s getting harder to find. The rooms are solid (nothing fancy, but everything works), and I really appreciated that they seem to actually maintain things instead of just letting stuff slide like some places do. The AC was a godsend during my April visit – and trust me, you’ll want that if you’re there during the hotter months. What I loved most though was stepping out in the early morning and hearing actual birdsong mixed with the distant sound of fishing boats from Bogmalo Beach. It’s maybe a 10-minute walk to the water, and honestly, Bogmalo is one of those beaches that locals still use – you’ll see fishermen sorting their catch alongside the handful of tourists who’ve figured out this spot.

The staff here actually seem to know the area, which sounds basic but you’d be surprised how rare that is. When I asked about getting to the spice plantations inland, the guy at reception didn’t just hand me a brochure – he told me which bus to catch from the main road and warned me about the weekend crowds. Plus, being this close to the airport is genuinely useful if you’re flying in late or leaving early (the Uber ride is like 15 minutes max), but during the day you barely notice the planes. The whole Bimut Ward area has this sleepy village feel where you can actually walk around without dodging scooters every five seconds. There’s a little local market about 10 minutes away where I got the best cashew feni I’ve ever tasted – definitely not something you’d stumble across staying in the main tourist zones. Look, it’s a 3-star place with an 8.5 rating, and that rating makes perfect sense once you’re there. It’s not trying to be something it’s not, but what it does, it does really well.
