HOTEL OVERVIEW
Honestly, I wasn’t expecting much when I first pulled up to the Fort Lauderdale Marriott Harbor Beach – I mean, it’s right there on Holiday Drive with all the other beachfront hotels, and you know how those can be. But this place actually surprised me in the best way possible. The moment you walk into that lobby, there’s this immediate sense that you’re somewhere special, not just another cookie-cutter resort. The whole vibe feels more sophisticated than most Marriotts I’ve stayed at, probably because it’s right on one of the nicest stretches of private beach in Fort Lauderdale.
What really gets me about this place is how they’ve managed to feel both upscale and genuinely welcoming at the same time. The spa – and I’m someone who’s usually skeptical about hotel spas – is actually worth your time and money. I had a massage there on a Tuesday afternoon (pro tip: weekday appointments are way easier to snag), and the therapist knew what she was doing. The beach situation is pretty stellar too, especially if you’re coming from up north and just want to plant yourself in a chair without fighting crowds. Sure, it gets busy during spring break season, but honestly, what doesn’t in Fort Lauderdale? The staff does a good job managing the chaos, and there’s usually enough space to find your own little corner of paradise.
Here’s what I really appreciate – the rooms facing the ocean are worth the upgrade, especially if you can swing one of the higher floors. You’ll hear some airplane noise since you’re not far from the airport flight path, but it’s not constant, and the sound of the waves pretty much drowns it out anyway. Parking is valet only, which’ll run you about thirty bucks a day (yeah, I know, but welcome to beachfront Fort Lauderdale). The restaurants are solid without being groundbreaking – the poolside bar makes a decent mojito, and room service actually arrives hot, which is more than I can say for some places. If you’re planning to explore beyond the resort, you’re maybe ten minutes from Las Olas Boulevard, where the real restaurant action happens. But honestly? Once you’re here, with that private beach and the way the sunset hits the water from their terrace, you might not want to leave. It’s the kind of place that reminds you why people move to Florida in the first place.
