Grand Prince Hotel Hiroshima Overview
You know what? I wasn’t expecting much when I first pulled up to the Grand Prince Hotel Hiroshima – I mean, it’s on this little island called Ujina that feels completely separate from downtown Hiroshima. But honestly, that turned out to be exactly why I loved it. The hotel sits right on the waterfront, and I’m talking like literally steps from Hiroshima Bay, which means you get these incredible views that most visitors never see because they’re all staying in the city center fighting for glimpses between buildings.
The thing about this place is it feels more like a resort than a typical business hotel, which is refreshing in Japan where everything tends to be so… compact. The lobby has this soaring ceiling and wall-to-wall windows facing the water – I actually spent way too much time just sitting there with coffee watching the ferries head out to Miyajima. Speaking of which, you can catch the ferry to the famous torii gate right from nearby, and hardly anyone knows this, but the sunset view of Miyajima from the hotel’s upper floors is better than what you’ll get from the island itself. The rooms are proper-sized too (and I mean proper by international standards, not just Japanese ones), with most facing the bay. Sure, the decor feels a bit dated – think early 2000s business hotel vibes – but everything works perfectly and it’s spotlessly clean. The beds are actually comfortable, which honestly isn’t always a given in Japan.
What really sold me was how peaceful it felt here after spending days in the intensity of downtown Hiroshima. You’re only about 15 minutes by tram from Peace Memorial Park and all the main sights, but when you come back in the evening, it’s like stepping into a different world. The hotel has this little private beach area where locals come to jog in the mornings, and there’s something really special about having your coffee while watching the city wake up across the water. The staff genuinely seemed to care – not just the polite efficiency you get everywhere in Japan, but actual warmth. They helped me figure out the most scenic route to Miyajima and even printed out tram schedules without me asking. Parking is free, which is huge if you’re doing a road trip, and the whole area is dead quiet at night. I mean, you might hear the occasional ferry horn, but it’s more charming than annoying. It’s one of those places where you end up staying an extra night just because it feels so good to slow down.
Experience exceptional luxury healing hotels that provide world-class accommodations alongside cutting-edge wellness facilities, creating sanctuaries where guests can focus on their health and well-being.
Guest Reviews
Excellent scenery, and great sea view from the room, excellent top floor restaurant with large selection of great food and great views, very convenient to visit Miyajima as the ferry is right outside of the hotel, staffs are friendly and helpful.
The room was nice and the restaurants were exceptional.. We really liked the buffet strawberry lunch and breakfasts What could be improved: The staff were a little weak in English and the location of the hotel was somewhat isolated from the city. ...
-The free 30min shuttle bus from Hiroshima station was brilliant, the bus arrived at stand 8 and boarding was simple enough, the driver put our luggage underneath which was handy. -The staff are conscientious and welcoming, we had a very smooth...

What could be improved: Took a while to check in (queue)
We upgraded our room, and very happy to do so.
What could be improved: The original room was not what I had hoped. Also the upgraded room did not have internet tv which I found strange since the standard room had.
Excellent hotel, friendly staff.
What could be improved: Nothing
the view
What could be improved: no nearby restaurants
