Look, I’ll be honest with you – when I first pulled up to Hariyali Dhani Camps & Resort, I wasn’t sure what to expect. The drive out from Jodhpur city center takes you along NH-114, and you’re basically heading into proper Rajasthan countryside. We’re talking about 51 miles out, near this little village called Dheerpura in Balesar tehsil, so you know you’re getting away from the tourist chaos. The place sits right there on the highway, which actually makes it pretty easy to find (thank god, because GPS gets a bit sketchy out here), but once you turn in, it’s like you’ve entered this whole different world.

What really got me was how they’ve managed to blend the whole camp experience with resort-level comfort – I mean, it’s not often you find a 5-star property that still feels authentic to the desert landscape. The “dhani” concept is brilliant, honestly. They’ve recreated that traditional Rajasthani village vibe, but with proper bathrooms and air conditioning, which let’s face it, you absolutely need during the summer months. The tented accommodations are spacious (way bigger than I expected), and there’s something really special about falling asleep to complete silence – no city noise, no honking, just the occasional peacock call in the early morning. The staff genuinely seemed to know the area inside out, and they’d casually mention things like which direction to look for the best sunset views or when the local wildlife is most active.

You know what surprised me most? The food was actually excellent. I was prepared for decent camp food, but the kitchen here really knows their Rajasthani cuisine. The dal baati churma was spot-on, and they do this amazing ker sangri that tastes like someone’s grandmother made it. Evenings are where this place really shines though – they set up these cultural programs with local musicians and dancers, and it doesn’t feel forced or touristy. It’s more like you’re sitting around a village gathering, except you’re sipping properly mixed drinks and there are comfortable cushions everywhere. The property gets pretty quiet after 10 PM, which some people might find too peaceful, but I thought it was perfect for actually unwinding. If you’re looking for nightlife, this isn’t your spot – but if you want to see stars like you’ve never seen them and wake up to that incredible Rajasthani sunrise over the desert landscape, then you’ll get why people make the trek out here. Just make sure you’ve got a decent car for the highway drive, and maybe stock up on any specific snacks or drinks in Jodhpur before heading out, since you’re pretty far from any major shops once you’re settled in.
