HOTEL OVERVIEW
Look, I’ve stayed at a lot of Miami hotels, and honestly, most of them feel like they’re either trying too hard to be South Beach glamorous or they’re these generic business places that could be anywhere. The JW Marriott Turnberry is different though – it sits up in Aventura, which I know sounds far from the action, but hear me out. You’re actually getting the best of both worlds here.
First thing you notice pulling up is how massive this place is, sprawling across what feels like half of West Country Club Drive. The valet situation is smooth (which, if you’ve dealt with Miami hotel parking, you know is not a given), and the lobby has this sort of understated elegance that doesn’t make you feel like you need to change clothes just to walk through it. What really won me over though was stepping out onto the grounds – there’s this incredible golf course that stretches forever, and you can actually hear birds instead of just traffic noise. The spa building sits off to one side, and I mean, the whole setup feels more like a resort town than something fifteen minutes from Aventura Mall.
The rooms are solid Marriott quality – nothing that’ll blow your mind design-wise, but everything works and the beds are legitimately comfortable. What surprised me was how quiet it stays, even when the place is packed. I think it’s because everything’s so spread out, plus most guests seem to be either families on actual vacation or business travelers who aren’t looking to party until 3 AM. You’ll want to grab breakfast at one of their restaurants if you can swing it – the coffee’s actually good, not that weird hotel lobby stuff, and you can sit outside most mornings since the weather cooperates. One thing to know: if you’re planning to hit South Beach or downtown Miami regularly, you’ll be dealing with some driving. But honestly? After a day dealing with Miami crowds and traffic, coming back to this place feels like an escape. The pool area becomes this peaceful zone in the evenings, and there’s something really satisfying about watching golfers finish their rounds while you’re having a drink. It’s the kind of place where you might actually want to spend time at the hotel instead of just using it as a place to crash.

Breakfast great, also great staff at the bar. They asked us to sign an invoice for over 50 USD each, despite it being complementary. When I checked out they tried me to pay it. Not sure if they tried to scam me or if that‘s just usual there.
