La Vista Daisetsuzan

071-1472 Hokkaido, Higashikawa, Asahidake Onsen, Japan
HOTEL OVERVIEW
Nestled in the breathtaking natural landscape of Hokkaido, the 4-star La Vista Daisetsuzan offers an exceptional retreat for travelers seeking both luxury and authentic Japanese experiences. Situated in Asahidake Onsen in the town of Higashikawa, this highly-rated accommodation boasts an impressive 8.8 rating, reflecting its commitment to outstanding service and guest satisfaction. The hotel’s prime location at the foot of Mount Asahidake, the tallest peak in Hokkaido’s Daisetsuzan National Park, provides guests with unparalleled access to some of Japan’s most stunning alpine scenery. This exclusive position allows visitors to experience the changing seasonal beauty of Hokkaido, from cherry blossoms in spring to vibrant autumn foliage, and the region’s renowned powder snow in winter that attracts skiing enthusiasts from across the globe. La Vista Daisetsuzan seamlessly blends traditional Japanese aesthetics with modern comfort, creating an atmosphere of refined tranquility. The hotel’s crowning feature is undoubtedly its natural hot spring baths (onsen), where guests can immerse themselves in mineral-rich waters while gazing at panoramic mountain vistas. These therapeutic waters, drawn from the volcanic terrain of Daisetsuzan, offer a deeply relaxing experience that connects visitors to centuries of Japanese bathing culture. Accommodations at La Vista Daisetsuzan reflect thoughtful attention to detail, with rooms designed to maximize views of the surrounding natural beauty while incorporating elements of Japanese design philosophy. Dining at the hotel is an equally memorable experience, with restaurant offerings that showcase Hokkaido’s celebrated cuisine. Seasonal ingredients sourced from local producers are transformed into exquisite dishes that represent the perfect marriage of traditional Japanese culinary arts and Hokkaido’s unique gastronomic heritage. Whether enjoying kaiseki multi-course meals or more casual fare, guests can expect exceptional quality that matches the hotel’s stellar reputation. Beyond the comfort of the hotel itself, La Vista Daisetsuzan serves as an ideal base for exploration of Daisetsuzan National Park, often called “the roof of Hokkaido.” Nature enthusiasts will delight in the proximity to hiking trails that wind through pristine wilderness, offering opportunities to observe diverse wildlife and rare alpine flora. The nearby Asahidake Ropeway provides easy access to higher elevations, where visitors can marvel at dramatic volcanic landscapes and, in winter, access some of Japan’s most coveted skiing and snowboarding terrain. Cultural experiences are also within reach, with the artistic community of Higashikawa known for its photography and crafts. Throughout the year, the hotel can arrange seasonal activities from snowshoeing in winter to foraging expeditions in summer, ensuring that each stay offers unique memories. For travelers seeking to experience the natural majesty of Hokkaido while enjoying premium accommodations, La Vista Daisetsuzan represents an exceptional choice that consistently exceeds expectations, as evidenced by its outstanding guest rating and reputation as one of the region’s premier lodging options.

The dinner was absolutely amazing and way too much food for anyone but a sumo wrestler to eat. Very high quality it was great.
What could be improved: the property is a little old but it was fine
Heidi from Australia (17 March 2025)
Amazing stay, definitely need to drive to get to this location but it's worth your getaway. We arrived right at the start of the snow storm, and it makes it more magical. Great food selection, amazing service, there's massage service available (definitely recommended) and a few private onsen available.

Yumiko from Japan (9 August 2023)
We have so many allergies for the foods and you handled so well to serve us, especially French restaurant.
We enjoyed the dinner on that night.
What could be improved: Talking about the allergy Japanese restaurant wasn’t great. We needed open minded service. We didn’t need full menus and could skip some courses.
Matthew from Canada (3 August 2023)
Excellent meal courses with outstanding service. English support was available where needed. Communal hot springs facilities were top-notch and private hot springs were excellent as well.
What could be improved: Breakfast time was half an hour too short and we missed it one morning.
