Moness Resort Overview
First Impressions
You know what strikes you first about Moness Resort? It’s how the building seems to emerge naturally from the Perthshire landscape, like it’s always belonged there. This four-star property sits along Crieff Road in Aberfeldy, and honestly, the approach alone tells you you’re somewhere special. The Highland setting feels both dramatic and welcoming — I mean, you’re surrounded by rolling hills and ancient woodlands, but there’s nothing intimidating about it.
Location & Setting
The location really is something else, and I get why couples rate it so highly (apparently 9.2 out of 10, which seems about right). Aberfeldy itself is this charming market town that most people drive through without stopping, but that’s their loss. You’re perfectly positioned here — close enough to explore the whisky trail and Highland attractions, but far enough from crowds to actually unwind. The River Tay runs nearby, and on clear mornings you can see why this part of Scotland has inspired so many artists over the years.
The Room Experience
The room I stayed in had that perfect balance of Highland character and modern comfort. Nothing too flashy, but everything you actually need — and the views, well, they’re the kind that make you linger by the window with your morning coffee. What impressed me was the attention to detail without being fussy about it. The furnishings feel substantial and well-chosen, and there’s proper storage space (you’d be surprised how many places get this wrong). The bathrooms are generous, and the beds are genuinely comfortable — not just hotel-marketing comfortable.
Dining & Amenities
Breakfast deserves a mention because they’ve clearly put thought into it. The buffet covers all the basics, but they also handle dietary requirements properly — vegetarian, gluten-free options that don’t feel like afterthoughts. The restaurant serves solid Scottish fare with some modern touches, though honestly, with Aberfeldy’s dining scene improving, you might want to explore a bit. There’s a game room that’s actually useful on those inevitable rainy Highland days, and parking is free on-site, which saves you the hassle of figuring out town center spots.
Why Guests Love It
Here’s what really sets Moness Resort apart — the repeat guest factor tells you everything you need to know. People keep coming back, and after staying here, I understand why. It’s not trying to be the flashiest place in the Highlands, but it delivers on the fundamentals while giving you genuine access to some of Scotland’s most restorative countryside. The spa facilities help with the restoration part, and if you’re into golf or fishing, you’re well-sorted here. There’s something deeply satisfying about a place that knows what it does well and just gets on with doing it, year after year.

Great location
The location
The hot tub was amazing and the price was very reasonable. The location is also perfect
Lovely spacious lodge with sufficient amenities. We had a teenager with us who is attached to his x box so we should have brought an extra tv with us for evening time. The staff at the restaurant were exceptional and were so accommodating despite us...
Staff are amazing and so helpful and nice. Breakfast and Dinner delicious both days. Enjoyed the use of the leisure facilities and feeding the ducks was an added extra.
Location is fantastic. Guest service was excellent . We stayed in a room that was quaint however the furniture and decor could do with a bit of an investment. Beautiful bathroom, beautiful grounds. Dinner service was slow , and a bit pricey.
Deluxe room was well worth the money quite spacious with a warm and spacious bathroom , breakfast was good quality and nicely presented , the staff were helpful and pleasant
Food was fantastic, staff very friendly. Leisurely facilities clean.
