HOTEL OVERVIEW
Honestly, when you first pull up to the Park Hyatt Beaver Creek, you might do a double take – this place sits right at the base of the mountain in a way that feels almost too good to be true. I mean, you’re literally steps from the Strawberry Park Express lift, which is clutch during powder days when everyone else is fighting for parking spots down in Beaver Creek Village.
The lobby hits you with that mountain lodge luxury vibe without going overboard on the antler chandeliers (thank god). What actually impressed me was how they’ve managed to keep things feeling intimate despite being a big resort property. The rooms are properly spacious – not those cramped ski boxes you sometimes get – and if you snag one facing the mountain, well, you’ll probably spend way too much time just staring out the window. The spa situation is legit too, especially after a day of getting your legs destroyed on the back bowls. I found myself there more than I’d planned, which says something since spa treatments aren’t usually my thing.
You know what really sets this place apart though? The staff actually knows the mountain conditions and can give you real beta about where to ski, not just the generic “everything’s great” response. Plus, being right there on Thomas Place means you can stumble back for lunch without dealing with the village crowds – or more importantly, you can grab a quick bourbon by the fire pit when the lifts close and everyone else is stuck in shuttle traffic. The 8.1 rating feels about right; it’s not perfect (breakfast can be a bit of a scene during peak season, and parking fills up fast), but there’s something to be said for waking up and being on the slopes in under five minutes. If you’re the type who prioritizes mountain access over everything else, this is your spot.
