HOTEL OVERVIEW

You know what struck me first about Raj Palace Resort? It’s actually set back from the main chaos of Ranthambhore Road – which, if you’ve ever been to Sawai Madhopur, you’ll appreciate because that road can get pretty intense with all the safari traffic. The moment you turn into their driveway, there’s this immediate sense of stepping into something more refined, honestly like entering a different world altogether.

The architecture here is genuinely impressive – not in that over-the-top way some places try too hard, but more like someone actually understood what makes Rajasthani palaces beautiful and decided to do it right. I mean, you’ve got these gorgeous courtyards with fountains that actually work (always a plus), and the whole place has this warm sandstone glow, especially in the late afternoon when the light hits just right. The rooms are spacious – and I’m talking properly spacious, not just “spacious for India” – with those high ceilings that keep things cool even when it’s blazing outside. What I really appreciated was the attention to details like proper blackout curtains (crucial when you’re doing those 5 AM safari departures) and bathrooms that actually have decent water pressure.

The staff here gets it – they understand that most guests are here for Ranthambhore, so they’re genuinely helpful with safari bookings and timing, not just going through the motions. The restaurant serves solid North Indian food, though honestly, the breakfast spread is where they really shine. They do this amazing fresh paratha station that’s become my little morning ritual whenever I’m here. Location-wise, you’re about ten minutes from the park entrance, which means you can actually sleep in a bit longer than if you were staying in town – though you’ll still want to book those morning safaris well in advance, especially during peak season from October to March. The pool area gets lovely evening light, and it’s actually a great spot to decompress after a day of tiger spotting (or not spotting, as these things go).

Is it perfect? Well, the WiFi can be spotty in some rooms, and sometimes the service slows down when they’re full, but these feel like minor quibbles when you’re dealing with a place that genuinely feels like a retreat. At an 8.1 rating, it sits in that sweet spot where you’re getting real luxury without the stuffiness – which is exactly what you want when you’re here to focus on the incredible wildlife experience that Ranthambhore offers.

The hospitality and effort!! We (2 sisters) went to the hotel with our dad and it was his birthday that day! We asked the staff before hand if they could arrange a birthday surprise with a cake for our dad! After we had dinner the staff took us to a private table and had a beautiful cake with his name on it and candles with a lot of flowers around it. They put in the extra effort to give my dad a beautiful birthday! We were very happy, and my dad was also very happy! Also the rooms were very nice, spacious and clean! The staff was there to help us during our whole stay. The guys working at dinner also took care of us very politely, they brought us extra plates of food and checked up on us many times to see if we needed anything. All in all our stay was very pleasant and we were positively suprised with their hospitality!

Fine room, facilities and helpful staff. It was too cold for us to visit the pool, but the garden had some nice sun beds we used in the afternoon.

Really enjoyed our stay here! Most luxurious place I’ve ever stayed in India, the room was spacious and modern as was the bathroom. The pool area was good (though I didn’t go in as it was so cold!) with lots of deckchairs, as well as other reclining seats in the garden. We didn’t actually use the on-site bar and restaurant though got room service...

We had an issue with our safari booking which was sorted by staff.

Descent for family. Rooms are good size and reminded my childhood days at my Nanny’s home.

The location was really good, easy to access Ranthambore National Park. The bedroom was huge, really good side and included facilities you would expect at this hotel. Heritage feel, with authentic furniture. Staff were friendly and helpful. Entertainment in the evening in the form of Tiger documentary about the park. Good choice of food at dinner...
