The location on Red Mountain Circle is pretty brilliant if you know St. George at all. You’re far enough from the main drag on St. George Boulevard to avoid the chain restaurant sprawl, but close enough that you’re not driving forever to get to Zion (which, let’s be real, is probably why you’re here). The resort sits right against these dramatic red cliffs, and depending on your room, you’ll either get mountain views or you’ll look out toward the Pine Valley Mountains in the distance. Check-in was smooth – they’ve got this lobby that feels more like a fancy mountain lodge than your typical Utah hotel, with these massive windows that frame the landscape perfectly.

What really sets this place apart is how they’ve worked with the natural setting instead of fighting it. The buildings are low-slung and blend into the red rock, and honestly, the whole property feels more like an upscale retreat than a standard resort. The spa here is legit – they do this thing where they incorporate local elements, and after a day of hiking in Snow Canyon (which is literally minutes away), it’s exactly what you need. The pools are heated year-round, which is clutch because even though St. George is warm, those desert nights can get chilly. I stayed in late fall and was still swimming comfortably at sunset.

The restaurant situation is solid – not groundbreaking, but they source locally when they can, and the breakfast actually has some creative touches beyond the usual hotel buffet nonsense. What I really appreciated was the little stuff: rooms have these huge bathrooms with soaking tubs, the beds are properly comfortable (not too soft, not too firm), and the Wi-Fi actually works everywhere on the property. Parking is easy and free, which sounds basic but you’d be surprised how many places nickel and dime you.

If you’re here for outdoor stuff – and honestly, why else would you be in St. George – the resort connects to some lesser-known hiking trails right from the property. Most people head straight to Zion or Snow Canyon, but there are these red rock formations you can explore without fighting crowds. The concierge actually knows the area instead of just handing you generic brochures, and they’ll point you toward trails that match your fitness level. Fair warning though: this isn’t a budget option, and if you’re just looking for a place to crash between adventures, you might be paying for amenities you won’t use. But if you want somewhere that feels special and takes advantage of this incredible landscape – well, Red Mountain Resort gets it right more often than not.
