HOTEL OVERVIEW

You know what caught me off guard about the Shoshone Condos? I was expecting your typical ski-in, ski-out place with thin walls and that weird hotel carpet smell, but these units actually feel like someone’s mountain home that they’re letting you borrow for the week. The location on Big Sky Resort Road puts you right in the thick of things – I mean, you can literally ski back to your door after a day on Lone Peak, which honestly saves you from that whole boot-carrying shuffle through parking lots that makes you question your life choices.

The condos themselves are spacious in a way that matters when you’re traveling with gear or kids or both. I’m talking real kitchens where you can actually cook dinner instead of microwaving leftover pizza, and living rooms where everyone isn’t sitting on top of each other after a long day on the mountain. The mountain views from most units are pretty spectacular too – you wake up and there’s Lone Peak just sitting there being all dramatic and Montana-esque. What I really appreciated was how quiet it stays at night, even during peak season. You get that proper mountain silence where the only sound is maybe some snow sliding off the roof or the occasional distant snowcat grooming the runs for tomorrow.

The whole setup works especially well if you’re planning to spend serious time at Big Sky Resort – and let’s be honest, once you see what they’ve got here, you’ll want to. You’re close enough to walk to the base area when the weather’s decent, but far enough that you’re not dealing with the constant parade of day-trippers dragging their rental skis around. Parking is straightforward (no small miracle at a ski resort), and the staff actually seems to know what they’re talking about when you ask about conditions or dinner recommendations in the valley. The only minor thing I’d mention is that grocery runs require a bit of planning since you’ll be heading down to Meadow Village or further into Big Sky proper, but that’s just mountain life. Overall, it’s one of those places where the 9.0 rating actually makes sense – comfortable, well-located, and run by people who seem to understand that travelers want to feel at home, not like they’re camping in someone else’s idea of luxury.

We loved that our unit was in the same building with the restaurant, spa and pool. We enjoyed spending time in the sauna and hot tub, had a spa treatment and also had things to do near by. Breakfast was delicious and since it came with the package felt like a great deal. Beautiful view from our room. Although we didn’t use the kitchen except for the refrigerator overall the room had a good amount of space for 3 people.

Excellent value. Free scenic chairlift tickets included and free sit-down breakfast in the restaurant. And the condo itself was comfortable and well equipped for cooking and sleeping. Also has big windows to view the valley. Will definitely return.
