HOTEL OVERVIEW
You know what really caught me off guard about The Atlantic Hotel & Spa? I walked into the lobby expecting another generic beachfront property, but this place actually has some serious character. It’s right there on Fort Lauderdale Beach Boulevard – and I mean *right* there, like you can smell the salt air the second you step out of your Uber. The building itself has this sort of understated elegance that doesn’t scream “look at me” like some of the flashier spots further down A1A.
The location is honestly perfect if you want to be in the thick of things without dealing with the Spring Break chaos that hits some of the other beaches. You’re a quick walk to all the good restaurants on Las Olas (seriously, try Coconuts if you haven’t – locals know), and the beach access is basically private since most tourists end up at the more obvious spots. I stayed here during peak season and was surprised how peaceful the actual beachfront felt, even when the main strip was packed. The spa is where they really shine though – I mean, five stars is five stars for a reason, right? They’ve got this whole oceanfront treatment room situation that’s pretty spectacular, and the staff actually knows what they’re doing instead of just going through the motions.
Here’s the thing though – and I’m being honest here because I hate when reviews sugarcoat everything – the parking situation can be a bit of a headache during busy weekends. Valet is your best bet, but it’s pricey. Also, if you’re expecting brand-new everything, some of the rooms show their age a little. Nothing major, just… well, you know how five-star properties can sometimes rest on their laurels? But honestly, that almost adds to the charm. The views more than make up for any minor quirks – I had a corner room facing southeast and could see the Intracoastal and ocean at the same time. And the sound of the waves at night? Way better than any white noise machine. The whole place has this relaxed, established feel that you don’t get at the newer resorts. It’s where people who actually live in South Florida bring their out-of-town guests, if that tells you anything.

The Hotel is across the beach, so it is a perfect location for the family. The beach has lounge chairs and umbrellas that can be rented. We received an upgrade to a higher floor and view of the ocean. My kids loved that the most.
