The358 SORA

813-0017 Fukuoka, Fukuoka, HIgashi-ku Kashiiteriha 6-6-5, Japan
HOTEL OVERVIEW
Look, I’ll be straight with you about The358 SORA – this place caught me completely off guard. You know how sometimes you book a hotel based on photos and reviews, then show up expecting disappointment? Well, this wasn’t one of those times. Tucked away in Kashiiteriha (which honestly, I had to ask three people how to pronounce), it’s got this quietly sophisticated thing going on that feels way more expensive than what you’re actually paying for a 4-star spot.
The location is actually pretty clever once you figure it out. I mean, you’re not smack in the middle of Tenjin or anything, but that’s kind of the point – you get this residential neighborhood vibe where you can actually hear yourself think. There’s a Family Mart literally two minutes away (thank god, because I needed coffee at weird hours), and the Kashii station is close enough that getting into central Fukuoka is no big deal. What really surprised me was how quiet it stays at night. I’m usually the person complaining about street noise, but even with my window cracked open, all I heard were the occasional footsteps and maybe a bike bell here and there.
The rooms themselves have this minimalist thing down pat – not sterile minimalist, more like “we actually thought about what you need” minimalist. The bed was honestly one of those where you sink in just enough without feeling like you’re being swallowed whole, and they’ve got these blackout curtains that actually work (hotel curtains that block light properly are rarer than you’d think). Check-in was refreshingly straightforward too – none of that overly formal bowing and ceremony that can feel awkward when you’re jet-lagged and just want your key. The staff spoke enough English to handle the basics, but I definitely appreciated having Google Translate handy for the more detailed questions.
Here’s what I really appreciated though – the little touches that show someone was paying attention. The bathroom has this rainfall showerhead that actually has decent water pressure, the air conditioning doesn’t sound like a helicopter landing, and there’s enough outlets that you don’t have to choose between charging your phone and your camera. I also noticed they keep the common areas spotless without that overwhelming bleach smell some places have. The only minor thing that bugged me was the elevator can be a bit slow during busy times, but honestly, that’s me being picky.
With that 8.9 rating, I was expecting it to be good, but this place has that rare quality where everything just works without trying too hard to impress you. It’s the kind of spot where you end up extending your stay if you can swing it – which I actually did, because finding a place that feels like a home base rather than just somewhere to crash is worth the extra night or two. If you’re looking for somewhere in Fukuoka that’s comfortable without being flashy, and you don’t mind being slightly off the main tourist drag, this is definitely worth considering.

I like the room size , the onsen was good, there are some restaurant and stores closed by. Huge parking if you are driving, the hotel is not too busy and it's quiet area to relax and stay too
What could be improved: nothing
Anek from Thailand (23 December 2024)
The breakfast is good and the facility is clean and quiet. The location is a little bit off and have to pass through industrial area but can’t do much. Good for those who want to stay in the hotel, but not good for those want to go to Hakata/ Tienjin area.
Anek from Thailand (21 December 2024)
Quite a big triple room with very good breakfast.
What could be improved: The location is too far from the city center.
Ning from Hong Kong (30 September 2024)
It’s my 3rd stay already. My family had a great time here. My daughter loves the breakfast so much. And they provide big car park for free parking.
What could be improved: I prefer brighter light in the room but it is just a suggestion for improvement. I love this place.
Lai from Hong Kong (28 September 2024)
It was clean, everything was equipped and in order, hence did not need to find hotel for assistance. Hotel is spacious and quiet.
What could be improved: The tour buses and many tourists at the duty free next door was quite disruptive.
Anthony from Hong Kong (24 September 2024)
Hot spring is excellent with unlimited drinks supply until 1 am when it is closed. Room is clean and big. There is a shopping mall behind.
What could be improved: The location is a bit far from city, though manageable if you drive.
Kuen-chan from Taiwan (21 August 2024)
Breakfast was good, slightly different everyday. Bed was comfy. Parking was easy.
What could be improved: There were children jumping above our floor, but not a big problem.
Jia from Singapore (17 August 2024)
Breakfast spread is fantastic. We are traveling with the entire family of 13 and the spread is able to satisfy everyone's preference. Modern and clean rooms which we love it. Onsen area serves free ice popsicles and has a quiet area for chilling. What could be improved: Check in timing is very fixed. Any early check-in is possible but chargable...

Hotel is clean and new. Onsen area is great. There is a lounge area outside the onsen with vending machines, massage chairs and ice sticks, where you can relax and wait for ur family members. What could be improved: The location. Food wise there is only a food court in the building beside the hotel, and the stalls were mostly closed by 7pm. The...

It’s our 2nd visit and I think this hotel is so friendly to children. My daughter was happy about the bath in room, the kid’s breakfast n the lollipop after the public bath. We would like to come again. It’s better to drive here n they have free parking. What could be improved: Nth really. If the light in the room can be brighter it would be...
