Explora en Torres del Paine – All Inclusive

Salto Chico s/n, 5661000 Torres del Paine, Chile
HOTEL OVERVIEW
Look, I’ve stayed at plenty of fancy places, but Explora en Torres del Paine actually gets what luxury means in Patagonia. This isn’t some marble-lobby hotel where you’re disconnected from why you came here in the first place – it’s honestly one of the few spots where the building itself feels like it belongs in this wild landscape. The design is all horizontal lines and weathered wood that practically disappears into the pampas, and you know what? When those legendary Patagonian winds start howling (and they will), you’ll appreciate how smartly this place is built.
The all-inclusive thing here isn’t just about unlimited pisco sours – though the bar does make a mean one using local calafate berries. What really sets this apart is how they’ve thought through the whole Torres del Paine experience. Your guides actually know the difference between a caracara and a chimango, and they’ll adjust routes based on weather without making you feel like you’re missing out. I mean, when the torres themselves are socked in with clouds, they’ll take you to spots like the Cueva del Milodón that most visitors rush past. The boats they use for the Última Esperanza fjord excursions are way better than what you’ll get on the standard day tours from Puerto Natales.
Honestly, the rooms are what you’d expect from a place with this rating – those floor-to-ceiling windows facing the massif will ruin you for other hotel views. But it’s the little things that show they understand their location: blackout curtains that actually work during those endless summer nights, and heated bathroom floors for when you’re stumbling around at 5 AM trying to catch sunrise over the towers. The restaurant sources lamb from estancias you can literally see from the terrace, and after a day hiking through that Patagonian wind, their empanadas hit different than anywhere else. Just don’t expect a huge variety – this is sheep country, and the menu reflects that reality. The wifi is surprisingly solid for being in the middle of nowhere, though honestly, you came here to disconnect anyway, right?

Fabulous location; incredible staff; wonderful and knowledgeable guides; comfortable lodgings. What could be improved: Only a very minor point - the excursion booking process could be made clear at check-in (I.e. in written info provided in rooms), as there was info regarding almost every other aspect except this. Guests let each other know...

Gustavo from Brazil (19 February 2024)
The explorations are really well organized, the location is amazing.
What could be improved: They should sincronize the transfers to airports with the main flights. Doesn’t make sense to have fixed slots like today.
