HOTEL OVERVIEW
Look, I’ve stayed at a lot of desert resorts, and the Grand Hyatt Indian Wells hits differently than most. The moment you pull up that long driveway off Indian Wells Lane – and honestly, GPS gets a little confused here, so don’t panic if you miss the turn the first time – you realize this place sprawls. We’re talking 45 acres of actual space, not one of those cramped “luxury” spots where you’re elbow-to-elbow at the pool.
What really got me was how they’ve managed to keep it feeling intimate despite the size. The lobby opens up to these mountain views that make you forget you’re basically in the middle of the Coachella Valley, and the whole vibe is more relaxed California than stuffy resort. The rooms – especially if you can swing one of the villas – actually feel like places you’d want to hang out, not just crash after a day of golf. Speaking of golf, you’re literally next door to the Indian Wells Golf Resort, which is clutch if you’re into that, but even if you’re not, the location puts you right in the sweet spot between Palm Desert’s main drag and the quieter parts of Indian Wells. You can walk to some decent restaurants without dealing with the full Palm Springs tourist circus.
Here’s the thing though – and this might matter depending on when you visit – it gets absolutely packed during golf season and Coachella time. I mean, good luck finding a quiet spot by the pool in March. But honestly? Even when it’s busy, the layout means you can usually find your own corner somewhere. The spa area tends to stay calmer, and there are these little seating areas scattered around the property that most people walk right past. One thing I really appreciated was how the staff actually seemed to know what they were doing – check-in was smooth, they had our room ready early, and when we had a minor issue with the air conditioning, someone was up there in like fifteen minutes. You know how rare that is these days? The whole place has this desert contemporary thing going on that could feel generic, but somehow doesn’t. Maybe it’s the way the light hits those palm trees in the evening, or how you can actually see stars from the outdoor areas once the sun goes down. Just don’t expect much nightlife action – this is Indian Wells, not Vegas – but if you want to decompress somewhere that feels special without trying too hard, this place delivers.

Even though the place was crazy busy, I did not see any employees frustrated. They all had smile on their place and they were very kind. It was hard to find lounge chairs but Ramone was soo nice and found a place for my and other family lounge chairs and place so we can enjoy the area. Everybody at the pool was extremely pleasant.

We were a party of 5, so we had 2 beds and a pull out sofa bed. Was a little bit tight with us all being in there, but it was fine as a place to sleep. The pools were lovely and the larger pool with slides and the last river were great for the younger kids. Food at the pool was nice too and the kids options were ideal.
