The Westin Mission Hills Resort Villas, Palm Springs Overview
First Impressions
Honestly, when I first pulled up to The Westin Mission Hills Resort Villas, Palm Springs, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect from this four-star property tucked away in Rancho Mirage. The sprawling complex feels more like an upscale residential community than a traditional hotel — and that’s exactly what makes it work so well. You know what struck me immediately? The sense of space and privacy you get here, something that’s actually pretty rare in the Coachella Valley these days.
The Villa Experience
The villa-style accommodations are where this place really shines. My room felt more like a well-appointed condo, complete with a full kitchen that I actually used (rare for me on vacation, but the local farmers markets are too good to pass up). The beds here are genuinely exceptional — I mean, Westin’s known for their Heavenly Bed concept, but these felt even better after long days exploring the desert. The separate living areas give you room to spread out, which couples especially seem to appreciate based on what I observed during my stay.
Location and Desert Access
What I love about the Rancho Mirage location is how it puts you right in the heart of the valley without the crowds of downtown Palm Springs. You’re literally two miles from some of the region’s best golf courses — Desert Willow and Mission Hills are both practically next door. The tennis court on-site gets decent use, though honestly, most guests seem more interested in the fitness center or just lounging by the pools. Parking is never an issue here, which anyone who’s dealt with Palm Springs during peak season will tell you is a genuine blessing.
Dining and Daily Rhythms
The on-site restaurant serves solid California cuisine, though I found myself venturing out quite a bit — partly because having that kitchen made it easy to grab fresh ingredients, and partly because some of the valley’s best dining is just a short drive away. The spa services are decent, nothing groundbreaking but perfectly adequate for post-golf recovery or just unwinding after hiking in the Indian Canyons. What I appreciated most was how the property never felt rushed or overly programmed — you can actually relax here without feeling like you’re missing some mandatory resort activity.
Why Guests Love It
This place works because it gives you the best of both worlds — resort amenities when you want them, but the independence and space of a vacation rental when you don’t. The villa concept means you’re not dealing with thin hotel walls or cramped quarters, and the Rancho Mirage setting puts you close enough to everything while maintaining that desert tranquility people come here seeking. It’s particularly well-suited for longer stays or couples who want to settle in rather than just pass through — which probably explains those consistently high location ratings from guests.
Premium healing resorts offer comprehensive wellness programs featuring spa therapies, meditation retreats, and holistic treatments designed to promote deep relaxation and personal renewal.
